Do you talk to your parents about anxiety

If you have, how did it work out? Do you feel better after explaining it to them?

Yes, I have talked to my mom about my anxiety and she's pretty supportive. I don't know if she understands the severity of it though. She tried to comfort me by saying she feels like that sometimes too.

No, I don't think they would understand it, and I don't think it would help anything.

yes, they are supportive but I don't feel the understanding is all there.. which is why i'm fiinnaally going to start therapy next week, I think it will be positive to talk about issues with someone that is knowledgeable and skilled.

Heh, noooo! To them anything that hints of "mental illness" is a big taboo. They would not understand.

Yes I have and my mom has helped me a lot with it. She's very supportive because she can relate too so that helps.

Sometimes, it's not something I like discussing with them though. Not that they don't sympathise, I just feel it makes the atmosphere weird. I dunno

My mom knows about it, but I think she's tired of hearing about it.

Rarely my mom knows I'm diagnoised with it, but that's all she knows. She doesn't understand it and has a stubborn way of thinking where she views it as "well why don't you just.... (fill in the space) I don't get it" so it's hard to bring it up or talk about it with her.

No and it's strange, I like to think I have a good bond with my parents and especially with my dad.

But talking to him about this kind of stuff is like a border I just don't want to cross or something, I'm not sure. Maybe I just don't like to show weakness to some people.
    Screw all the pretentious crap!
