life---> <---me
Going back to 2001 for this one!
I was at a local steer show and I had to wait till all hours of the evening as my heat was not on till then.... heat was called and a rush job to get my white dust coat and number on. Went out into the ring and did the first lap - our teacher had always said to maintain eye contact with the judge at all times. The judge had just walked past me and, remembering those words, I just glanced over my right shoulder and saw the finger point to me then to the middle - had to wait for the rest of my heat and the remaining heat to finish then the finals. What I saw during the final was not what I expected - I looked up to see my father standing outside the ring with our teacher. Although I did not get through in the end, I was quite surprised to even be there. After that was finished, I went out of the ring and walked around to Dad who was waiting to take me home.... it had been quite a long day and I was very tired. Dad just gave me the hug of all hugs (this hug still is in my memory to this day)..... and I still have the memory of making it through to the finals of that steer show!
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall soft upon your tracks
And until, until we meet again
May God hold you safely in the palm of His hand

Finally! Somebody who was around in the 60's! When I talk about the 60's I can just imagine the kids around here, thinking I have moss on me. Great topic!
