    what I was thankful for:

    - I was in relatively good health throughout the year
    - had two jobs that I overall enjoyed and that made me develop new skills
    - celebrated my first marriage anniversary (and 5 years of relationship!) <3
    - thankful for my mom and dad, my sister, my brother, my niece and nephew and in-laws and the fact that although we all live in different parts of the world we still hear from one another everyday <3 I couldn't ask for a better family.
    - overcame my phobia of driving (for the most part)
    - My dog Nala! It's been 1 year since we adopted her. She's such a great dog!
    - This site and all the people in it! <3
    - @IllusionOfHappiness <3
    - Became fluent in French
    - Got all my papers sorted out and now I have all my French documents..No more dealing with bureaucracy for at least a year!
    - Had my sister and her family visit me in France
    - Had a lot of fun travelling with my wife
    - Met up with @sanspants in NYC!
    - Met up in Paris with a friend I hadn't seen in 10 years
    - Learned to like myself more. I still struggle with low self-esteem and still have trouble believing in myself, but I think I feel better in my own skin now than I did a year ago.

I'm thankful that my son got married
And that they will be expecting a child
And that I still like my job

The rest of the year, not so good.
But I still feel blessed and am still thankful

    Okay here goes

-I'm thankful that I managed to get my life back on track, get back into studying.
-I'm thankful that my parents are putting up with me whilst I do this.
-For the relationship I'm in with my otherhalf. (otherside and the otherhalf. Heh)
-I also have a lot more self esteem and confidence. I've grown a lot more confident this year, and I'm glad of that.
-I'm thankful that my mood is still stable. Relatively speaking.
-Also managed to get my drivers license back. YAY! So I'm learning to drive now. Haven't gotten my license yet, but I'm getting there.
-I'm thankful that grampa is still with us. Yes, I am getting fed up of having to clean out of date chicken pate out of the fridge, but I'm glad he's still here. And he's still healthy.

Awwwyeee I'm thankful for you too, @Kirsebaer

This is a good idea for a thread. I'm terrible at thinking positively and it's forcing me to remember positive things.

Well, my dad's heart surgery definitely stands out. It was massively successful, and this year my siblings and I got the heads up about us possibly having the same condition that he does. It's good to know what might be in my future health-wise, and that if I ever experience similar symptoms I won't have to go to a bunch of different specialists. They'll already know what to check for.

I also surprised myself time and time again with my studies. I taught myself how to study efficently, after having struggled with that since...well, always. Even with the prerequisite for the course, I remember being so incredibly frustrated that I took so long to learn everything. I had all the motivation and time to learn but it wasn't working. So I switched up my methods and magic happened . I didn't think I'd graduate with average marks, let alone ones that allowed me to graduate with honours. Honestly I thought I'd barely make it through because there's just so much to take in at once. I've never in my life been an A student, haha. Though my experiences with studying are mostly from high school before my anxiety was more controlled. Paying for school will get ya to work real hard too! It was also the most stressful experience of my life, but even though I'm still unemployed I still didn't walk away from it empty-handed. You don't go through something that grueling and not emerge from the other side as the same person. You grow.

And speaking of employment, late last year a family member introduced me to a newish company that's looking to expand. At the time they weren't sure if they were hiring just yet, but I'm hoping this month they'll reach out to me (otherwise I have to let it go..*cue song*). I know about half the people working there, and they could vouch for me being a hard worker. They're essentially the references I'm otherwise missing. It's probably wishful thinking to assume they wouldn't advertise any job openings and instead just hire me. Yeah? Yeah. But I have all the experience for that type of job. Before anyone else's resume, they've seen mine. I hear the higher-up there was impressed with it. Too bad he doesn't get to call the shots, hiring-wise.

I'm of course always thankful for my family for supporting me and at least trying to understand my predicaments. As usual, they do way more for me than I feel I deserve. Way way more. I eagerly await the day when I can give back to them in a way that really counts.

I'm thankful for this site and all the wonderful people on it. Aaand I think that about covers it. Happy New Year, guys. Stay positive. Stay hopeful. I'll stop there before I start sounding like a greeting card.
