So when you have nightmares, what are they generally about?

Mine are generally involve being at the top of a skyscrapped for whatever reason, getting into an extremly small and old looking lift/elevator, and then for the cable to snap at somepoint whilst it's moving downwards. And sometimes the elevator even decides to have a mocking conversation in that really annoying elevator voice you get in them.

Do you know, I think that may well be my worst fear. Falling to my death in one of those things.

Seriously. Given the option between dragging a suitcase up twelve floors by stairs, or by going in the lift...I take the stairs. Every time.

I use lifts when I have to. I don't panic so much in them. I just don't like the thought of a lift falling, for some reason.

I really don't think I'm going to be living in a skyscrapper. No way I'd handle that. At all.

I used to have fake horror type dreams with monsters and chasing and stuff. Now my bad dreams mostly involve my dad being angry or disappointed with or hating me, or my cousin, whom i'm not on good terms with, trying to kill or hurt me physically or emotionally.

My nightmares are usually about criminals chasing me with guns, me hiding, them finding me, me running and hiding again and them finding me again.. then I usually wake up all stressed out with my heart racing.. it's awful.
I also have nightmares where I lose my upper front teeth.. pretty disturbing too!

I often have nightmares of large animals (tiger, bear) being in the house or around the property. I'm always terrified for my own safety and for my pets. That feeling of deep fear lasts quite awhile after I awake.

Same here. Not sure why these have plagued me for years.

I've been having failure dreams. Everything I do is a failure. And people just leave me in my dreams. I'm never good enough.

My girlfriend's suicide. Always, every time. There are several that repeat over and over, but the most frequent one is of her drowning. We're in a lifeboat (like my avatar) and she's fallen over, the waves are like 20 feet tall, and I'm trying to save her, trying to grab her hand, but it keeps slipping, and then she goes under. It's terrifying.
Bereavement is a darkness impenetrable to the imagination of the unbereaved. ~Iris Murdoch

Your girlfriend's silence might be her loudest scream.

If you still have more dreams than regrets, congratulations. You haven't gotten old yet.

Spend every moment like it's your last. Hug her, kiss her, hold her, like it's the last time that you ever will. Because it might be.
