Man taking Darth Vader selfie labeled 'paedophile' after mother posts his pic online

It seems, men in 2015 are creeps and pedophiles until proven innocent.

Heh, the downside of the media creating a culture of fear by training people to be on high alert for threats at all times combined with people who have gotten into the bad habit of immediately turning to Facebook and Twitter to sound off on something in the heat of the moment before rational thought kicks in. Everyone having a camera on them at all times allows social injustices like police brutality to be exposed more frequently, but it can also lead to a situation like this. Gotta take the good with the bad, I suppose.

    This.

Yes, I totally agree. Social media's biggest temptation is to let words fly before thinking kicks in. Damage from social media breaks up families, friendships, gets people fired, etc.

Guys...................don't tell the world your very first thought. Give yourself a day or two to calm down. You would be surprised how much reality can kick in when you take time to breathe and let the oxygen return to your brain.

And this is why you go to the police, and not start a mob on Facebook.

sorry but someone explain to me... if someone takes a photograph in front of a character from a movie... a movie that is perfectly acceptable for both children (newly introduced to the franchise or fans of the franchise because their family members or so on introduced them) or adults that grew up with the "old" star wars (the ones with han solo ect) then how does that make them a paedophile (a disgusting filthy despicable excuse for a human)...where is there even slightly a link

I was a little confused about that myself. Did the dad have the camera backwards and only thought he was taking a selfie? The article had a picture of his selfie, so I was confused why the woman thought he was taking a picture of her kids.

I guess if he was holding the phone up to take a selfie with the front camera, it could have looked like he was taking an image with the back camera.

And if there were kids around (presume there was if the woman declared him a pedophile) then it may have looked like he was taking an image of the kids.

Yep, that is it. He had a smartphone with a back and front facing cameras. He was using the front camera.
