The explosion came and went in a heartbeat, the agonizing pain didn?t. Every nerve ending in her body was screaming out for an end that did not come. She tried to move her lips, to lift her head, but she couldn?t.
She didn?t understand why she was still in alive, in the back of her mind she knew that no one should have survived the blast and no one should still be alive and in so much pain.
She couldn?t see anything, her eyes were stuck shut and she instinctively knew that opening them would cause her even more pain. Why wasn?t her mind numbing this pain? Wasn?t it supposed to in these sorts of conditions?
Suddenly, she was aware of the sound of moving footsteps. She didn?t think on the fact that she was still able to hear, her only thought was Kill me now but the footsteps were light, and slow; whoever was approaching was taking their sweet time in doing so. Why are you taking so long to get to me? Kill me, end this pain, please end this.
There was a dull thud as something dropped to the ground by her head and the pain ebbed away gradually, and the relief of its disappearance was unlike anything she had ever felt. She wanted to cry out in joy, but her voice would not work.
"You will do as I say, or you will face that agonizing pain for the rest of your existence." A cold voice hissed in her ear. "And trust me." He laughed, but it was a laugh devoid of warmth and feeling, just like his voice. "Your existence will be a very long one indeed. There can be no death for you now."

She wanted to scream as she saw herself in the mirror, but no sound came out; nothing in the world could have prepared her for what she saw. A thick layer of ash clung to clearly visible muscles; all that was left of her body was charred muscle and bone.
