blake lively's dress inspired by the oxidation process of the statue of liberty was the moment

Huh that's a really cool idea. I always loved the oxidised copper effect. Especially in inbetween states. I used to take loads of pictures of stuff like that lol.

I was trying to find some examples by looking through old photos but couldn't (kind of gave up,) and then clicked on some random video file which ended up being one where I was hanging out with my ex and a friend when we were drinking at my flat where they just got me to record them play fighting over I can't remember the initial reason lol something involving a shoe. Wish I had more context tbh.

    Ex: 'Are you recording?'

    me: yeah

    Ex: OK

Friend: 'This is just to prove that [x] can't hit me in the shoe'

me: 'Hit you in the shoe what part of your body is that?'

    [sometime later]

friend: 'do you surrender otherwise I'm going to hug you. Do you want a hug!?'

    Ex: 'I can't see what's going on

Me: 'Do you have my pillow on your head?'

Friend: 'No, no [x's] dead ... I can't make him see'

me: 'Oh my God. I'm filming all of this btw.'

    Friend: 'I know'

Friend: 'Do you give up yet? Then we can go to Mosh. Do you want to go to Mosh?'

    Ex: 'If you want'

    Friend: 'let's go then.'

    😂

(Mosh is some rock/metal club. I think it's actually a nightclub chain so there are a few around.)

This is pretty funny and bittersweet cause I wouldn't want to get back to that relationship and it didn't end well but it was a fun time in general. Yeah I don't know why but using people I know/knew's names feels weird.

Oh yeah I vaguely remember taking a bunch of photos of them hugging too lol.

And it's weird right because this is a fairly new thing. Well I guess not people used to film stuff sometimes, but people started filming themselves and people they know a lot more in the 2010s so you get this surreal window to the past.

Found this old drawing too. I think I drew this from a photo I found online somewhere.

    https://i.imgur.com/BoCENsj.png

You know everything except what I was looking for.

I know within the last few years I got some footage of this pipe that's under the house here that looked cool. Dunno if I can find that.

Yeah I always thought that the Tate Modern building had the vibe of a concentration camp with the chimney and style. (Just found some video where I was walking past it lol.)

Fucking video of a peacock in a park where is it lol?

    Oh finally found them:

And it was glittery because of the crystallisation but I'm too lazy to gif the video I took plus it's not the best quality unfortunately.

They're completely tearing this YouTuber apart (there's a subreddit created specifically to discuss her as well, and someone doxxed her and started contacting her extended family members who she's not in contact with to tell them about her channel, reaction channels started commenting about her etc,) and imo a lot of this is coming from the fact that they decided to start making vlogs in addition to their regular content (regular content was uncontroversial and largely disconnected from their personality.) They have mental health issues too and their life is kind of messy so that was all kind of exposed and regardless of what people say about supporting mentally ill people if they see that level of vulnerability from you, they will attack you especially when you reach a certain number of subscribers. Or if you're earning a living from YouTube, because most people are envious of YouTubers. A lot of the negativity is about her earning money too. Not talking about someone who is getting rich from YouTube either, just someone who it's the equivalent to a low paid job lol.

One person in particular I noticed had this intense hatred/obsession that was kind of I dunno how to describe it but it reminded me of my stalker before and you know the girl I grew up with. Psychopaths. A lot of them are losers by society's standards too though so that's the sad part. Like they're projecting the self hatred they internalised from society onto others. The whole concept of 'a real job' etc.

At one point she was posting videos everyday as well and obviously very upset and that's a big no no as well. They will eat you alive. Sooner or later though it will happen to most people who are in entertainment.

Yeah this song doesn't really work just popped into my head lol. I miss this era of YouTube tbh.

Content wise this sort of thing still exists (like Jazz Emu,) but that's not even the point at this point. There weren't so many transparent communities of psychopathic/angry people back then.

But imo part of what YouTubers and like onlyfans sex workers etc exist to do is to absorb all the excess hatred from the problems of capitalism and modernity. I think Grimes openly admitted that she gets that that's her role lol. To be a punching bag for people struggling under capitalism. Something like that when she was talking to Hasan and also on twitter at some point. She'd actually just accepted that. "Which is fine. I'm ready to be there."

    I love them so much.

The best bands either sound great or even better live.
True this is the case with Steven Wilson (almost: when he switched up the live performance of Index after the first tour I didn't care for it as much,) every time somehow lol. I always listen to that one Raider II recording over the studio version.

Lol the bio at 1:50 (and it says he's looking for friends haha but they still have to be sexually attractive. Yeah I'm sure he's looking for friends lol.) Imagine having a bio of everything you don't want, nothing about what you do want, and nothing about yourself lol. Nothing about your interests. Just a bunch of political signalling. Also specifying snake/dragon tattoos specifically is funny. I wonder who he's met who has them or maybe just a general symbolism thing. Jordan Peterson hates dragons too and snakes are usually associated with various negative personality traits and the Genesis storyline.

I surprised someone on another forum when they saw my photo because at the time I'd stopped dying my hair. I don't have tattoos. I'm slim, short, bookish looking. Had long hair in the photo. Haha but I have all these political beliefs, and personality traits and I'm non-binary and quite aggressive online. I find this very entertaining. They told me they assumed I'd have a bunch of piercings and dyed hair and other predictions based on my username + post style.

    😏

Tbf though I look this way out of laziness and being very stuck in my head. Also clothes etc cost money (neglecting things like appearance. When I was a young teenager I didn't wash my hair very often so it took other people commenting on that before I got into the habit.) Ideally I'd present more alternatively (have done in the past,) and also have an industrial piercing (I haven't gotten one because there's a high rate of infection + healing time I believe and I don't like going to hairdressers etc so I cut my own hair due to social anxiety same with going to get piercings though when I got my lobes pierced it didn't take long tbf.)

There's a very fascinating phenomenon where certain guys online will complain about women with dyed hair and piercings (flamboyant appearance basically,) and post memes to compare it to aposematism in amphibians and point out that it's them signalling that they're toxic but in actuality aposematism (a word that is annoyingly easy to confuse with apostasism which is probably not a word but would be related to apostasy if it was,) is used to ward off predators. Or perhaps a vulnerable narcissist?

Aposematism is the advertising by an animal to potential predators that it is not worth attacking or eating.[1] This unprofitability may consist of any defenses which make the prey difficult to kill and eat, such as toxicity, venom, foul taste or smell, sharp spines, or aggressive nature. These advertising signals may take the form of conspicuous coloration, sounds, odours,[2] or other perceivable characteristics. Aposematic signals are beneficial for both predator and prey, since both avoid potential harm.
Humans are (debatably) apex predators though. And despite 4chan and tumblr not amphibians lol. It's also not gender specific and seems to serve several different purposes. Criminals often have tattoos, soldiers run around with pink wigs, punk rockers dye their hair, people who want to be edgy, people who want to signal left wing political beliefs, people who want to signal they're non-conformist (only works when it's less common,) people who want to signal they're creative, people who want to signal they're bisexual, people who want to signal they're non-binary, people who like anime a lot, people who just like colours a lot. Etc. And they do this both consciously and unconsciously. I mean when I started dying my hair it hadn't even become a non-binary or political stereotype yet lol and I just thought 'this will look cool.' This was before the internet went fucking insane too so yeah lol.

    Lol directly after that

My work crush is 5'2" and chubby. She's cute but not that cute. The kind of girl you crush on because you think you have a chance with her - an easy chance at that. Like you would even put yourself above her. Maybe in the 4-6 range.
If you remove the chubby part because I'm slim that's me haha (my exact height too.) That was definitely my appeal to nerdy guys back when I actually socialised. Also I had a lot of nerdy interests which prob increased appeal. Drove some guys a bit insane (in a bad way. One guy I'd known for a month or so and we'd being hanging out as part of a group with others and we ended up going on one date that I didn't realise was a date due to being a bit naive. Then I realised it was and we kissed at the end of the date, but then it didn't feel right as I walked home, so I told him on facebook when I got back that I just wanted to be friends and he took that kind of badly but got over it in a few days or so. Later I started dating his friend who was part of the same social group and he ended up drinking tons, disappeared so lots of people ended up looking for him. He sent me lots of concerning texts at that point so I was pretty worried. I think said he was going to kill himself. Then he apparently threatened to stab the guy I was dating. It was more sad than threatening though. Then he dropped out of uni and started drinking heavily posting lots of stuff on Facebook. Last I heard he was studying neuroscience.)

Several other examples but I can't lol. I cba. That was the first.

Oh I will go into one because it's so insane lol. There was a guy online. I think he probably had borderline personality disorder undiagnosed or something. Definitely something going on there. So he took a liking to me and started messaging me and at some point I said in a forum post I didn't think it was necessarily a bad thing for 16 year olds to go out with people older it depended on the specific individuals involved (also 16 is legal in the UK.) Obviously this is hugely controversial now but I did post this anyway because I'm retarded. So he completely lost it and decided I was a pedophile apologist and evil and heartless and a psychopath etc. He continued posting passive aggressive stuff about me on the forum which annoyed me so I'd confront him when it was obvious and I'm kind of impulsive and easily pissed off by certain things (like that,) and then I'd get into issues with the mods and the mods told us not to communicate and I can't if someone is doing that and I'm not going to report them because I don't like doing that. I'd prefer to confront them. So it was just a mess. Then he decided - probably because I came out as non-binary (at least I doubt that helped) - that he was going to be transphobic and started posting a bunch of transphobic stuff and insulted other trans people on the forum. Then I posted a photo of myself at some point and he posted something along the lines of 'I don't care if bla bla bla you're so attractive' etc. (But that wasn't his exact wording it came across as him idealising me in a weird way. Like you could see he was splitting.) Then he made a lot of sexist posts about women I don't think he liked stay at home mums and stuff like that. He kept making threads yelling at the mods. I can't remember if he came back to do that after getting banned or not now lol but maybe.

If he was more androgynous looking and less crazy it might have been an interesting relationship because he admitted to having sexual fantasies about being a woman during sex (but with a cis guy so maybe that wouldn't work out.) But also he lived in New York so not really viable.

It's just 'what the [BEEP] is my life?' You know what I mean. 😂

    What you want:

What you get (no not 'Chad' the nice guy (tm) complaining about 'Chad' and women dating 'Chad' still quoting from the video):

Well her boyfriend is a successful finance bro making 200k+ He is also an athlete (runs marathons) and has a six pack and nice muscles. He is also a DJ. On top of all that he is super extroverted and is part of many clubs and throws parties and has tons of friends and is always doing SOMETHING.

I can't believe you have to do all of that just to get some mediocre poon. Like I was crushing on her because she wasn't that great and I thought she'd be an easy one. Well I was dead wrong. Average women can get exceptional men with ease these days. it's BS. How do you cope??

I'm a simple man. Don't got the spark for that stuff. I just wanna go to work and come home to a girl and smash. Maybe get burgers/tacos on the weekend? Maybe a few coffees and then plow a couple of times a week?? I'm not trying to be superman the social butterfly. I just want a simple life with a moderately attractive woman but it seems impossible. You gotta be an extroverted chad to get anywhere these days.
'How is this person I see as beneath me exceeding my expectations for them (this is exactly the same issue people have with people who make a living on YouTube btw. A lot of YouTubers aren't conventionally attractive, they're relatable - that's part of the appeal, they have mental health issues, something that makes them less perfect but then somehow they're earning money. And it's not a real job. That's more annoying to people than if someone ticks every box of being a God/Goddess.)

No I know it's because I'm incredibly messed up myself. At least I know I'm fucked up I guess lol.

(and at this point I got bored watching this video and stopped lol.)

edit: yeah I ended up watching the rest and the guy who is really butthurt about women with a lower sex drive who then went on harassing the person who merely pointed out they'd be a bad fit for him because he mentioned it in his bio is familiar to me too. Reminds me of some guy on another website lol. The idea that a woman might not want sex (not just with him but in general,) seemed to be a trigger for him for whatever reason.

That long rant that guy goes into in his bio like 'just because I have a high libido doesn't mean I'm not looking for a serious relationship' Lol. Yeah I always preferred guys who seem relatively disinterested in sex (some fictional characters too.) My second relationship was asexual with someone who had previously expressed confusion about why people wanted sex or something like that on Facebook, and I'm still friends with that guy and he didn't go crazy at any point and is very chill so it was an improvement.

Undercover police in Nashville were at Hayley Kiyoko's sound check telling her she couldn't have drag performers in her show. She did it anyways. This is blatantly unconstitutional intimidation that goes against the court injunction.
Some US states are getting really fucking weird/authoritarian. Not surprised to hear this is Tennessee the same state where Matt Walsh lives. The same state where Ben Shapiro moved his Daily Wire HQ. The same state where the trans guy shot up a school recently. Not justifying his actions since he killed indiscriminately which is fucked up but Tennessee have all but declared war on sex non conforming people at this point.

    Thinking about these tweets lol:

"Maybe being trans isn't about how you feel inside. Maybe it's about going to war with England."
closeted trans men will go to war with England rather than go to therapy
This was actually a response to something about Joan of Arc but it's currently relevant too.

You try and get therapy you're at risk for conversion therapy. It's great in so many places. 😂

No but it's one of the reasons I avoid therapy the other is it just seems too exhausting emotionally to open up to someone irl about personal stuff. I don't like it. I don't trust people etc.

    Also related:

When I lived in Arkansas in the 90s....they had a cross dressing law that you had to wear at least one piece of "sex appropriate" clothing or you could be arrested for cross dressing. I honestly had a car load of friends arrested for cross dressing around 1992. They were "stopped for speeding" near a gay bar. That's how they used to try to catch people. Ridiculous!!! People who weren't bothering anyone.
It's weird to think that I just roll out of bed, put on clothes, put no thought into it, it's unisex/masculine clothing. This is fairly normal for genetic females in general regardless of gender identity. I feel like wearing dresses etc is crossdressing for me (that's how it feels, it feels performative.) And that could be randomly policed in certain places.

Realistically though this is mostly to punish/control trans women, gender non-conforming men, and amab non-binary people (any genetically male people who deviate from sex norms in other words.) I think even Ben Shapiro admitted to having somewhat of a double standard on video re masculine presenting women vs masculine presenting men. Femininity is seen as the other and policed and scrutinised a lot more. It's seen as 'for these men' too, and so if they're not attracted to trans women or gender non-conforming men they feel like they should control this expression (some women engage in this behaviour too like Abby Shapiro talking about how she doesn't find men in dresses attractive as an argument against men presenting that way. Nobody cares and you're married lol. Oh they don't conform to your preferences? You don't conform to mine. In my head you're bisexual and you don't have annoying 'conservative' - bigoted - opinions. We don't all get what we want.) That's one half of the thing the other half is that they think all genetic males are an extension of them and so should reflect their own personal desires and preferences and just as often that every guy should be a soldier in their troop or whatever and so feminine men are an outgroup/liability and must be eradicated.

I would like to trebuchet these men into the sun.

Also extremely normal US abortion laws honestly basically body horror:

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FvPuj6XW...jpg&name=small

Having seen people discuss the difference emotionally between miscarrying early in a pregnancy vs having a premature birth leading to death of the baby and the trauma associated with that no you stupid cunt. (Granted that was a baby they didn't know would die so knowing that your pregnancy is doomed might help a little with not emotionally bonding but then you have the body horror situation of being forced to go through something you know you don't have to by an authoritarian fundamentalist state. It's a fucked up thing to put someone through emotionally but also physically. It's a huge strain on the body.)

Lol where did she get Dave from? Did she just pick what seems like the most common male name? Everyone in the UK knows a Dave.

but good to know that if I detransition, carry a gun into women's spaces with the intent to murder anyone who seems a bit mannish, she supports me
    Lol exactly.

I have felt threatened by unwell people on public transit, I have been verbally abused, I have been masturbated at. But you know what I didn?t do to any of those people? Murder them.

Seeing a lot of comments like "idk have you ever been threatened or afraid on public transit" from men towards women in this discourse and uh
    I?m gonna lose it
Honestly never had this happen to me in the UK and the fact crazy [BEEP] seems so common in various parts of the US is a real indictment of several things simultaneously. I had a drunk woman try to talk to me once on a train but she wasn't threatening.

American Right wingers are gloating about the murder of a homeless person by a marine. I'm sure a bunch of them are ironically LARPING as Christians. Larping in all caps because.. I have several issues with Christianity but even I know Jesus wouldn't be cool with that behaviour lol. And of course, remember this when they complain about someone offing their own.

I'm getting pretty close to reading 'Christian' as 'Social Darwinist'

But no part of the details of this case are surprising. Everyone's mentally ill now and vets are deeply fucked up people with oversensitive threat perception, because of what the system did to them. That's why I'll always be against hegemonic masculinity and fascism.

the doors between the subway cars are portals to hell
I always thought the underground was kind of hellish and creepy actually.

Not actually the most fucked up techno capitalist dystopia news story in recent history. Maybe a month or so ago I read about that guy who was stabbed to death in Vancouver for asking someone to stop vaping in front of his toddler and then some guy recorded the whole thing detachedly for tiktok as it happened. Not as evidence he came over because 'oh my God content'

    Oh OK.

Just drag queens hanging out to music dancing and cheering while that one group of Nazis with the Nazi flags who seems to rock up at every American drag queen event these days wander around in the background. Not sure if I can find this video on YouTube or something. I've seen them before but looking at the one channel that's documented them a bunch of times I can't find it quickly.

Really doing the most every day.

Lol someone else quoted this song's lyrics in response. Exactly though.

It's in Columbus Ohio but I can only find news clips on YT not original footage. This isn't what I was watching either but yeah they're so corny:

Everyone thinks they're feds. Naturally they refute the claim. The feds do do [BEEP] like this moreso they larp online though and I don't think people will ever accept that some people just are that blatant for real.

'ex-marine' you're always going to hear a lot of that.

Dude why are you dressed like you're roleplaying Panic at the Disco?

That's pretty Weimar. Looks like someone will have to find a 'Weimar solution' for you too.

Still amuses me that they were obviously told they had to censor goddamn and chose to censor the word God.

These two songs always remind me of each other. Interestingly the REM song came out first but REM are very 90s. For a band that formed in 1980 lol. But you know Automatic for the People came out in 1992 so that makes sense. REM invented social media lol.

    Obviously the best cover:

Pretty sad that I never got to see REM live before they broke up.

edit: Dec 30, 2021 R.E.M. Club Cafe Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

    https://www.concertarchives.org/bands/r-e-m

Wait wtf is happening I was informed they broke up in 2011.

I'm so confused. I also almost thought they were touring this year in the UK lol but then realised it was a tribute band. What is the above date in the US though? I don't know why it's saying REM was playing there and if I google there's a Facebook post about some tribute band but It's definitely not them their last tour was in 2008. Not cool man.

I still have to buy a new phone so I can go to a concert because a lot of places are e-tickets only now and I have an old phone that doesn't run any apps I bought back in 2013. Also I've been informed some time next year my phone's wi-fi is going to stop working (I think,) and I mostly use it as a glorified fanfic reading device at this point which I use the internet to do. So I'm being forced basically. But I'll be putting that off until the absolute last minute because I hate researching stuff and I'm probably going to have to get a new sim card and everything as well. I was like [BEEP] I have less months potentially to procrastinate. 😂 But it was just a tribute band.

REM reunion tour is the only thing that will speed up the process. I have to experience this live:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwtdhWltSIg

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgiCechWNCo

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLxpNiF0YKs

They have the most 'home' sounding music for me probably.

Starting with Nazis and ending with REM yep.

Cool hat lol. Somehow he's making it look cool.

I haven't watched this video yet but read this comment:

As an Eastern European woman, Tate talking about how we are "delicate and feminine housewives" is such asscrap. My grandmother had to take part in a revolution and rebuild her home with her sisters. She would have buried Tate in the ground.
It's kind of hilarious yeah. My nan grew up in Danzig (now Gdansk,) that was central Europe technically and also when my nan lived there it was a German speaking city state but still. A bunch of crazy stories. Her mum died when she was a baby and she had a stepmum she didn't really get on with. Her dad died sometime before she was 18 but dunno when. One time while working on the farm someone who worked there shot her friend accidentally while trying to shoot a rat or something? So she ended up in hospital and they didn't seem to have great healthcare so they used my nan for a blood transfusion but it didn't really work and she ended up dying, another time she said that she went to some forest to try and cut down a Christmas tree with a butter knife and was chased off, she was made stateless by age 18 so she was also homeless for a while, sometimes ate grass because it was hard to get food, was shot at, there were mass rapes going on after the soviets came in, she lived undercover with some Russian soldiers at one point, later when my dad was a kid she stabbed herself through the foot with a garden fork by accident and refused to go to hospital. My dad was like wtf (he was a kid then,) but I guess this is a pattern as my dad once apparently got into a motorbike crash and put off going with injured leg so he could go to the pub...

Of course that was a different generation of Europe but gender differences increase in countries with more freedom of choice etc (like in The West (tm) Western and Northern Europe and most of the Anglosphere I think, which is probably the actual reason there's a lot more of a gender war going on now. Humans often practice assortative mating and opposites don't exactly attract no.) The reality is the laws are different that's the real reason he moved he said this before. Can get away with more. UK is always going to be on his [BEEP] lol. Also there are many Polish and Romanian people who have recently moved to Luton so LOL. But yeah he wants to get away with [BEEP] legally. He's been arrested multiple times though but still. There was an attempt.

Lol Andrew Tate's tweets in the video

'I'm not racist I hate white and black people the same'

    *other racist tweets*

Well this is awkward because you are white and black.

Also yeah the grandiose narcissism as per usual. He can't turn it off.

I know people claim narcissists are charismatic and easy to fall for but how? How is anyone finding this appealing? How does it work on them? Even teenagers. I don't get it. Every clip I see of him is just blatant narcissism. It's not even vague. It was the same with Trump though.

Andrew Tate criticises the West and Western morality a lot but is like a perfect encapsulation of the worst of Western culture. A hyper capitalistic narcissist whose life revolves around making as much money as possible, exploiting people, doesn't live by half the stuff he preaches, fuckboy who has double standards about women doing the same. And it's very amusing because he'd think I'm 'degenerate' because of my idiosyncratic fantasy interests and being non-binary lol, but I've had one relationship that was sexual, and we didn't even have intercourse and that was my decision.

He's 2 steps away from being as unhinged as fascists who write things like this on the Daily Stormer website (article about Elliot Page) I removed most of the quotes because it's actually that unhinged lol I probably shouldn't, and this is what about 50% of transphobia and homophobia is based off of though. It's the conspiracy theories written by men that stem from a dual sense of competition with gynephilic genetic females crossed with their rapey desires to forcibly impregnate all genetic females (I'm guessing these men don't have many sexual options in combination with certain personality traits. As I said before they're like the territorial male birds it's the ethnonationalism that seems familiar but they tolerate non-conforming men less than that wikipedia article describes):

Our race could survive if 95% of our men were wiped out. It couldn't survive if 95% of our women were wiped out.
Basically, lesbians want this to happen to as many young girls as possible.. You see, many teenage girls have a “lesbian phase” where they think it’s fashionable to say they’re lesbians and kiss girls at parties while guys cheer. Then as they age, they stop doing that and become normal women.

[...]The homosexual movement can only reproduce through recruitment, so they want as many of those girls as possible to remain lesbians. The way to do that is to ensure they pass a point of no return
A lot of lesbians try to talk their partners out of medically transitioning for obvious reasons lol. So not quite. Testosterone also rarely sterilises people. Thankfully for the media because they get to:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-64495574

    https://www.theguardian.com/society/...eddy-mcconnell

    https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-...-baby-n1006906

    https://uk.style.yahoo.com/transgend...174513259.html

(The only time trans guys are brought up.)

Worse still: the movement targets girls with social problems, i.e., girls who are not doing well with boys, i.e., girls who are not prone to being complete sluts, i.e., girls who would make better mothers than most of these women.
And I find that highly amusing too. And I have nothing but contempt for you. I'm not a patient/saint like enough person for this shit. This music lol:

'you just activated a trap card.'

I was trying to find the one where he's like 'die then' thought that one was great. 'This isn't mock trial' yeah:

Not really relevant in context I just like the energy. #mood

Stfu and move to the woods.

'white people are dying out and the only solution is forcing every white genetic female into getting pregnant with a creepy focus on trans masc and lesbian people due to my blatant coercive/virgin fetish that for some reason I force into my politics.'

    Then die.

And yes this is obviously why Solanas wrote the Scum Manifesto. It's a mirror of this. These ideas must have been floating around a long while, perhaps since mankind began.

Used to love this song lol so edgy and aggressive. I've been getting suggested a lot of Alkaline Trio songs again the last couple of days.

I've got a big fat fucking bone to pick with you my darling

Wikipedia articles about non-Human animals are funny if you think about them from an anthropomorphic alien perspective because imagine being an alien who is capable of reading wikipedia and then every section about animals has a section like 'relationship with humans' or 'how this animal thing relates to Humans'

'Why is everything about Humans on this planet?' Lol.

All that being said I disagree that what Andrew Tate really wants is a beautiful woman that is compliant. Because he enjoyed poking Greta Thunberg far too much and he initiated contact with her in the first place! Guys like this always say they want submissive women but then spend all their time trying to get the attention of women with power and influence. They act like brats specifically to get the attention of more aggressive women imo. Well he admitted to that lol but he tried to frame it in a way that preserves his viewpoint that he's dominant. The thing is though he's impossible to respect (he basically says that women can hate you, but have to respect you.) So he gets used mostly by women who are looking for $$$ and then half of them report him for rape, sexual abuse etc later. Most submissive trad women would ignore him because they're not aggressive enough to react, but they won't have sex with him because he's not stoic and he's a fuckboy. What he's doing is very counterproductive but like I say I don't think it's what he actually wants. I think he'd get bored.

This is basically his ideal partner:

    So. Himself. Obviously.

I don't know I mean this is out of the left field and probably bs but... Maybe that's why some of them go after feminine guys etc as well. To get attention from certain types of women.

    I'm just saying:

Stuck on the train at Clapham Common and carriages filling with smoke, doors won't open if it wasn't for workmen on the platform we wouldn't have got out!
@TfL you should be ashamed! The response from station staff was horrific! @SkyNews @BBCNews @itvnews
Hi Jake, thanks for getting in touch and we're sorry for the distress caused at Clapham Common. The London Fire Brigade attended the station and confirmed there was no fire. We are investigating the details of this incident. SW.
Just because there was no fire, doesn't excuse the fact the doors failed to open in what could have been an emergency. 🙄🙄 come on, not everyone can throw themselves out a smashed window
There was no emergency though. You could have all just sat there and waited patiently for the doors to be opened, but instead you opted for criminal damage. I hope TFL can track the Oysters to Names and Addresses.
Lol so they're supposed to be psychic and sit there calmly waiting? That worked out well in Grenfell Tower:

But among survivors there is anger and disbelief that two years on from the fire there is no change in the advice you would be given if your tower block was on fire. Still you would be told to Stay Put.
"There was no emergency" says Tim as the board in the video states 'EMERGENCY Please leave the station immediately'.
    😂

When I was 7/8 I stayed over night on this ship in London and everyone there was roleplaying like it's the 1500s at one point they were acting and said something about there being a fire and I was like 0_0 ! They had to calm me down and explain that it was just part of the act and I didn't need to jump off the ship.

No one else reacted. I'm like out of there in 0.2 seconds lol. (I'm fairly sure everyone else understood that was part of their roleplaying thing though.)

I'm pretty sure that guy has to be trolling anyway. I mean people aren't going to [BEEP] around and find out after 2005 You're also told repeatedly to report any suspicious or unattended luggage while you're using the rail system so it's never not on your mind.

Konstantin Kisin: Woke Culture HAS Gone Too Far - 7/8 | Oxford Union
Oh wow it's so good to know Oxford Union is on the same level as social media. (This is a debate that's been split into 8 parts in 8 videos. With 8 speakers? I didn't check all the videos but multiple at least.) We're fucked I guess haha.

No I take the radical viewpoint that woke is a meaningless word. That most people are driven by emotions. That most people have something they're biased about. That most people have certain topics they get irrational about. That people aren't Vulcans no matter how much a group of - mostly male - people want to believe that. I mean I think we've all had a #stoicism #Marcus Aurelius quotes #vulcan phase but then you have to look at how most people are behaving regardless of their political opinions. My brother is not amused btw. I mean for me I was just 23 or whatever and doing a larp thing but he's expressed his disappointment multiple times with the direction of conservatism and some parts of rationalist culture and the like.

    Ben Shapiro is so 'woke'

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej0NBRwht-w

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWsx2iqO1ks

He sounds angry. That's an emotion. Robot voice: emotion detected. Ew. Gross. (90% of the comments are very smug people patting themselves on the back for how clearly logical/rational they all are not like 'woke (tm)' people with their gross girly emotions.' Don't you all have a bunch of Bud Light cans to destroy in a supermarket somewhere because Dylan Mulvaney was in an advert? Little boys.

Terrified of trans women and Lizzo lol.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiRpFF_SnW4

    You can just say that.

That time Ben Shapiro said he felt it was acceptable for a woman to punch her husband if he walked in wearing a dress. Was someone #triggered?

Feeling a little emasculated while simultaneously censored? Oh you don't like this game now? You started it bitches.

Actually it's very Mesopotamian. But opps that's not Western. We repressed and demonised that didn't we? =D

We're so above this. Here in the West. We're elves. Well, the pale skinned men are other men it depends on how much they conform to my superior white heterosexual male personality standards. THE TRANSGENDERS ARE STEALING OUR WOMBS. BLACK MEN ARE STEALING OUR WOMEN. Woah where did that come from almost sounded like a straight why guy losing his [BEEP] and strangely claiming to be anti-woke. No, no ignore my own anger and narcissism. You have to be more logical. You are emotional. You are narcissistic. You are sick. You are broken. You are weak. The Matrix is trying to get me and this photo of fetish porn is a some secret weird Chinese thing. Anonymous troll demons. (edit: this post is so insane lol but it's not as insane if you understand all the things I'm referencing. I mean some of it's from my previous post.)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inanna

Many of her myths involve her taking over the domains of other deities. She was believed to have been given the mes, which represented all positive and negative aspects of civilization, by Enki, the god of wisdom. She was also believed to have taken over the Eanna temple from An, the god of the sky. Alongside her twin brother Utu (later known as Shamash), Inanna was the enforcer of divine justice; she destroyed Mount Ebih for having challenged her authority, unleashed her fury upon the gardener Shukaletuda after he raped her in her sleep, and tracked down the bandit woman Bilulu and killed her in divine retribution for having murdered Dumuzid. In the standard Akkadian version of the Epic of Gilgamesh, Ishtar asks Gilgamesh to become her consort. When he disdainfully refuses, she unleashes the Bull of Heaven, resulting in the death of Enkidu and Gilgamesh's subsequent grapple with his own mortality.
Individuals who went against the traditional gender binary were heavily involved in the cult of Inanna.[51] During Sumerian times, a set of priests known as gala worked in Inanna's temples, where they performed elegies and lamentations.[52] Men who became gala sometimes adopted female names and their songs were composed in the Sumerian eme-sal dialect, which, in literary texts, is normally reserved for the speech of female characters. Some Sumerian proverbs seem to suggest that gala had a reputation for engaging in anal sex with men.[53] During the Akkadian Period, kurgarrū and assinnu were servants of Ishtar who dressed in female clothing and performed war dances in Ishtar's temples.[54] Several Akkadian proverbs seem to suggest that they may have also had homosexual proclivities.[54] Gwendolyn Leick, an anthropologist known for her writings on Mesopotamia, has compared these individuals to the contemporary Indian hijra.[55] In one Akkadian hymn, Ishtar is described as transforming men into women.[56][57]

I forgot someone also merged them lmfao:

(the parallels are scary no? Right down to how straight guys always assumed Lady Gaga was transsexual during the peak of her career and people wrote about Inanna as being androgynous. Nicki Minaj holds a similar cultural position with the same accusations. A lot of related figures are hermaphroditic too in mythology.)

The sexual identity of this goddess is controversial. In one late text, Ishtar says of herself: "I am a woman, I am a man." Ishtar could be viewed as a beautiful goddess of love who rules the day and as a bearded god(dess) of war who rules the night. It is claimed that the androgyny of Inanna/Ishtar provided a powerful symbol of the ambiguities of pure sexuality reflected in her cult, and in the transvestism of her cultic personnel (Groneberg 1986).
    gg guys.

It's a little ironic that the YouTuber Sargon of Akkad would hate Inanna because the og Sargon of Akkad was a big fan for some reason. (I somehow know this has to be woke (tm))

Also this Loki video autoplayed after the Thranduil video lmfao:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71P5pWy1EgI

Yeah you get the theme YouTube algo.

Damn it's almost as if he's a grifter spouting nonsense and crying about the 'woke' - which conveniently has just become a word which means 'anything I don't like this second.'
Absolutely. His content is very one sided and biased. Everyone he talks to has the same opinions about several key topics.

My son, aged 30, patronizes me. He tells me about organic foods and carbon footprint and saving the planet.
    He is European.
He doesn't realize the I did "all that" when I had the luxury of NOT being a parent to 3 kids. When I was a teenager in the 1980s I spoke down to my father, who had 5 children to feed.
I went on about healthy this and healthy that.
10 years later, poverty stricken with a lousy husband, with a toilet outside and a bucket for my children to bath in, I was grateful for food and wood and medicine.
I was 29 years old and no longer full of woke.
(As if generation z invented it. What a joke.)
I was a mum of 3 and living in a foreign country with a foreign husband. I couldn't speak the language and didn't have friends.
    Food. Heat. Medicine.
    That was my pyramid.
So many woke kids don't even know what Maslow's hierarchy of needs (pyramid) is.
The west is falling at a rapid rate.
I returned to Africa in 2022 after 30 years in Europe.
I don't want to freeze nor go hungry on the alter of wokeness. I didn't see a doctor since 2019 in the UK.
Came back to Africa, saw a doctor and discovered I have an autoimmune disease which is ravaging my body.
The doctors in the UK hid behind a screen for 2 years.

    So much for western civilisation.
    Fear riddles them.
Here in Africa we still talk to each other without a screen.
Here in Africa climate change isn't even a topic.
    Food.
    Heat.
    Medicine.
    Bringing up their children.
Dreaming of a future for them.

    Well said young man.
May you bring some sense to European youngsters.
OK that's great but how the [BEEP] is any of this 'woke' most of this is a complaint about technology and its uses in modern society, the response to the pandemic, and her personal communication issues with her son. This is what people mean when they say it's just a snarl word for anything they dislike.

If you want to say younger generations are more risk averse now just say that instead of inventing some weird all purpose ideological demon boogyman.

    Is woke just secular Satan?

To address the arguments in the 'woke' video

    1. Most of his argument is very close to being fallacy of relative privation so he could have cut out the bulk of that and just skipped to 8 minutes in or so.

I don't disagree that emphasis on scientific research is important. It often requires funding and not everyone can be a scientist, so I don't think activism and political pushes for awareness are bad. Also how do you know there is a problem if no one talks about it?

    2. Why have you and everyone who complain about this lumped several different political topics/groups of people together and called them all woke?

    3. You give the impression of someone who doesn't care about the issue or think it's important but are humouring people. 'Hypothetically if I thought climate change mattered' OK so do you think it's important or not outside this debate?

    4. Claiming to be a victim isn't unique to a specific political ideology and everyone has some group that hates them.

    5. Making points while saying 'I won't make those points tonight.' Lame. 'No offence but' 'I'm just joking' post irony etc.

    6. You say the way to change the world is to create but then I see so many anti-woke people complain about creative works as being 'woke' if you dislike the message. 'No don't build that.' Not sure if he's one of those people who does that.

    7. Complaining that you're fed up of discussing wokeness. Yeah well, don't then? It's mostly an incoherent discussion so feel free to move on.

    8. Argument is overall very vague. Still left wondering what wokeness ultimately is. A general dislike of Western culture? Probably. There's quite a bit of fearmongering before he decides to focus on the environment topic. I'm assuming it's something like 'if men aren't masculine, alpha males from other countries will destroy us.'

Yes that's a problem potentially. Hopefully the women and [BEEP] people in those regions will get on top of that soon.

    Godspeed:

    https://www.researchgate.net/publica...021_Case_Study

    https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-...-novel-n937941

I'm ambivalent but on the other hand, if people are convinced this works, I can larp along. It is one of my fetishes after all.

    I too can be delusional.

'OK well if I have to emasculate and overthrow all the non-Western men so hot people can exist here and you can all finally relax I suppose. 😒'

So much work for someone with probably undiagnosed ADHD and some kind of personality disorder. My brain + nature

This would be a really fun video game idea btw and then it has the added bonus of brainwashing anyone who plays it as I've been told all video games do that.

Unironically though the solution might be to overthrow all despotic and hegemonic males in every culture globally so you can all stop behaving like chimpanzees that have to worry about gorillas. That's a pretty sizeable problem and it's going to take a long time to fix. It's already been going on soooo long.

    https://www.cambridge.org/core/journ...31A5426A1D1577

Why bonobos evolved a reduced propensity for aggression compared with chimpanzees is not known. An ecological hypothesis points to functional consequences of gorillas being absent in the bonobo range, whereas most chimpanzees that live in similar habitats to bonobos co-occur with gorillas (Hare et al., Reference Hare, Wobber and Wrangham2012). According to this idea, the absence of proto-gorillas in the proto-bonobo habitat allowed proto-bonobos to utilise 'gorilla foods' more and therefore to be more gregarious than their chimpanzee-like ancestors (cf. Toda & Furuichi, Reference Toda and Furuichi2020). Increased gregariousness allowed female bonobos to form self-protective mutual coalitions in response to male aggression and to increase their ability to choose preferred males as mates; the fitness of the most aggressive males was therefore reduced. This scenario is based on the principle that the present is a key to the past, given that female bonobos are routinely seen to collaborate in defeating aggressive males (Tokuyama & Furuichi, Reference Tokuyama and Furuichi2016). While no tests have been devised for this ecological scenario, it illustrates the theoretical point that self-domestication is expected to occur via diverse mechanisms.
Humans are so funny because it's like you're a great ape but you can think about all of this and have language so it's like. 'Hegemonic masculinity' whose idea was that? Whose idea was any of this? This is why your God doesn't exist.

Oh my God I forgot about this:

And it was re-posted by a YouTube account called lemon (I have some random insane injoke about lemons. This is fate.)

Yeah so anyway She's playing games with Putin. (Timestamp) (can't say it worked out exactly but she must have been doing something right to end up in prison for 2 years so it's something.)

    Not your terfs feminism (tm)

Speaking of non woke victim complexes...

    I'm reading about Virginia Woolf.

[Virginia Woolf] dislikes the possessiveness and love of domination in men. In fact she dislikes the quality of masculinity ; says that women stimulate her imagination, by their grace & their art of life - Vita Sackville-West's diary, dated 26 September 1928
It's interesting that she compared and contrasted fashion and war multiple times:

The connection between dress and war is not far to seek; your finest clothes are those you wear as soldiers.
"Yet it is the masculine values that prevail. Speaking crudely, football and sport are 'important'; the worship of fashion, the buying of clothes 'trivial'. And these values are inevitably transferred from life to fiction. This is an important book, the critic assumes, because it deals with war. This is an insignificant book because it deals with the feelings of women in a drawing-room. A scene in a battle-field is more important than a scene in a shop ? everywhere and much more subtly the difference of value persists."
    Saw this tweet:

we're at most six months away from the kind of trans panic copypasta the anti-abortion right churned out in the 90s where they'd trick you into aborting Mozart: "imagine a little child with no parents who loved trees....congratulations, you just transed VIRGINIA WOOLF."
The insinuation that Virginia Woolf wouldn't be non binary were she to have a contemporary understanding of gender stuff 🤣
I was thinking she kind of did it to herself lol. That or she just really liked the idea of people like that, which also seems true regardless since Orlando was inspired by one of her partners Vita Sackville-West. Also she seemed to think it was essential creatively.

But the concept of 'transing' someone is ridiculous in the first place, especially when they're dead. Nobody has that kind of power. It's just an interpretation. Besides that language changes a lot so the labels people use change over time.

    This too is dumb lol:

im writing a paper about Orlando and i must say as s trans person i absolutely despised the way virginia woolf wrote about trans people.

a paper i read put it nicely as "fetishization of androgyny"
Oh i would agree that virginia woolf was writing this without trans people in mind! she was 100% writing about lesbianism, because she was a transphobic piece of sh/it just like you!
That's because she was writing about women, feminism + gender non conformity within it. She wasn't writing about trans + would no doubt turn in her grave at thought of representing men erasing women! She wanted to live her life as she saw fit in her sex, not to be a man, nor
I sincerely want both sides of this argument to go to hell. This is why I look up [BEEP] people from 80-100+ years ago from time to time to feel less lonely lmfao.

I'm 99.9% sure this person would think I fetishised trans people and androgyny in my writing/daydreams etc and I don't give a fuck. Also I'm non-binary (like them, I looked.)

Just thinking 'capitalise your I's' (in the same tone of voice as shoeonhead yelling at apathetic vocal fry person concern trolling about tiktok tradwives to blend their eyeshadow. I actually have no idea what that means but she said it well.) I'll allow that up until you start being a [BEEP] of this magnitude lol.

    Lol:

Freshman year of college an Englishwoman told me to read all of Virginia Woolf and gave me a copy of *Orlando* before she had a mental breakdown six months later. Similarly stereotypical.
I actually never have and don't read much but I know her writing inspired Patrick Wolf's music which I was a big fan of as a teenager and his stage name was inspired by her too - at least partly he also seemed to like lycanthropic symbolism a bunch:

Almost had a post without music.

It would be a thousand pities if women wrote like men, or lived like men, or looked like men, for if two sexes are quite inadequate, considering the vastness and variety of the world, how should we manage with one only? Ought not education to bring out and fortify the differences rather than the similarities? For we have too much likeness as it is, and if an explorer should come back and bring word of other sexes looking through the branches of other trees at other skies, nothing would be of greater service to humanity; and we should have the immense pleasure into the bargain of watching professor X rush for his measuring-rods to prove himself 'superior.'
She had a lot of opinions about other people lol (this kind of goes into what I meant about her thinking it essential creatively):

However, the blame for all this, if one is anxious to lay blame, rests no more upon one sex than upon the other. All seducers and reformers are responsible: Lady Bessborough when she lied to Lord Granville; Miss Davies when she told the truth to Mr Greg. All who have brought about a state of sex-consciousness are to blame, and it is they who drive me, when I want to stretch my faculties on a book, to seek it in that happy age, before Miss Davies and Miss Clough were born, when the writer used both sides of his mind equally. One must turn back to Shakespeare then, for Shakespeare was androgynous; and so were Keats and Sterne and Cowper and Lamb and Coleridge. Shelley perhaps was sexless. Milton and Ben Jonson had a dash too much of the male in them. So had Wordsworth and Tolstoi. In our time Proust was wholly androgynous, if not perhaps a little too much of a woman. But that failing is too rare for one to complain of it, since without some mixture of the kind the intellect seems to predominate and the other faculties of the mind harden and become barren. However, I consoled myself with the reflection that this is perhaps a passing phase; much of what I have said in obedience to my promise to give you the course of my thoughts will seem out of date; much of what flames in my eyes will seem dubious to you who have not yet come of age.

Even so, the very first sentence that I would write here, I said, crossing over to the writing-table and taking up the page headed Women and Fiction, is that it is fatal for anyone who writes to think of their sex. It is fatal to be a man or woman pure and simple; one must be woman-manly or man-womanly. It is fatal for a woman to lay the least stress on any grievance; to plead even with justice any cause; in any way to speak consciously as a woman. And fatal is no figure of speech; for anything written with that conscious bias is doomed to death. It ceases to be fertilized. Brilliant and effective, powerful and masterly, as it may appear for a day or two, it must wither at nightfall; it cannot grow in the minds of others. Some collaboration has to take place in the mind between the woman and the man before the art of creation can be accomplished. Some marriage of opposites has to be consummated.
When I saw the couple get into the taxicab the mind felt as if, after being divided, it had come together again in a natural fusion. The obvious reason would be that it is natural for the sexes to co-operate. One has a profound, if irrational, instinct in favour of the theory that the union of man and woman makes for the greatest satisfaction, the most complete happiness. But the sight of the two people getting into the taxi and the satisfaction it gave me made me also ask whether there are two sexes in the mind corresponding to the two sexes in the body, and whether they also require to be united in order to get complete satisfaction and happiness? And I went on amateurishly to sketch a plan of the soul so that in each of us two powers preside, one male, one female; and in the man?s brain the man predominates over the woman, and in the woman?s brain the woman predominates over the man. The normal and comfortable state of being is that when the two live in harmony together, spiritually co-operating. If one is a man, still the woman part of his brain must have effect; and a woman also must have intercourse with the man in her.
Coleridge perhaps meant this when he said that a great mind is androgynous. It is when this fusion takes place that the mind is fully fertilized and uses all its faculties. Perhaps a mind that is purely masculine cannot create, any more than a mind that is purely feminine, I thought. But it would be well to test what one meant by man-womanly, and conversely by woman-manly, by pausing and looking at a book or two.

Coleridge certainly did not mean, when he said that a great mind is androgynous, that it is a mind that has any special sympathy with women; a mind that takes up their cause or devotes itself to their interpretation. Perhaps the androgynous mind is less apt to make these distinctions than the single-sexed mind. He meant, perhaps, that the androgynous mind is resonant and porous; that it transmits emotion without impediment; that it is naturally creative, incandescent and undivided. In fact one goes back to Shakespeare's mind as the type of the androgynous, of the man-womanly mind, though it would be impossible to say what Shakespeare thought of women. And if it be true that it is one of the tokens of the fully developed mind that it does not think specially or separately of sex, how much harder it is to attain that condition now than ever before.
Here I came to the books by living writers, and there paused and wondered if this fact were not at the root of something that had long puzzled me. No age can ever have been as stridently sex-conscious as our own; those innumerable books by men about women in the British Museum are a proof of it. The Suffrage campaign was no doubt to blame. It must have roused in men an extraordinary desire for self-assertion; it must have made them lay an emphasis upon their own sex and its characteristics which they would not have troubled to think about had they not been challenged. And when one is challenged, even by a few women in black bonnets, one retaliates, if one has never been challenged before, rather excessively.
Now I'm being attacked by a moth lol.

my dad has been speaking to a royalist in his street and when my dad said we should get rid of the monarchy this bloke said "who would you have in charge instead... a load of transgenders?" and im obsessed with the idea that you can either have a king or a council of trans people
Why did their mind go there immediately lol?

Can't believe I'm suddenly next in line for the throne.

load of transgenders, assemble! our time is now!
I will have to perfect this vibe first:

Cyberpunk biker Anna Wintour. I need a twin to just wander around everywhere with too so we have the 20% creepy 80% badass ratio. Yes I did think the twins in The Matrix were cool.

Also I've completely ignored everything happening relating to the royal family so missed... Everything lol until this tweet. I consider it an art form as I do live in the UK.

I feel like if Mr Frond from Bob's Burgers wasn't designed purposefully to be an unlikeable egotistical character he'd be kind of cute. Mostly because he's a cat guy who spends a lot of time knitting and is... 'Easily flustered' (actually the wiki page said 'perpetually flustered' the TV tropes section for him is a lot less forgiving lol) also you know if he wasn't in a Western cartoon. Anime characters can be attractive in how they're drawn but Western cartoon characters never are (and of course that's never the point so that's fine.) Though I'm not really into anime characters these days nor watching it so. Also if I wasn't fixing my sleeping pattern again and in a weird mood etc.

    Also lol:

For some reason there are a bunch of videos where people just record themselves reacting to TV shows they're watching by recording the screen with their phone or something. I like the technophobic retroism of it though. Also reinventing laugh tracks.

Yeah I don't really watch films anymore anyway but that's not tempting me lol.

"I like to take breaks from the culture war by watching films about culture war."

No. No I don't. That's why when I play Runescape I avoid looking at the chat in that one area where people are always talking about politics because apparently people do that constantly in games now too.

I've felt enough devastation and misery and heartbreak for an entire lifetime and the next 2 generations already. Like, my grandchildren should be absolved of all this for all I've had to take in my own life by the age of 30

Again I do like Contrapoints or at least enjoy her content, but this irks me a lot (from anyone to be clear. I went into a fairly insane rant I deleted yesterday about how women who join cults etc aren't naive and brainwashed but antisocial and it gives them the opportunity often to carry weapons, kill people etc. Many cults and extremist groups function like mafias etc. So like the women who joined The Manson Family or isis and the Al-Khansaa Brigade where the rules are actually pretty different from most Islamic women. Or the women who became pirates centuries ago or snuck into the Navy.) In her seemingly desperate attempt to distance herself from men she regularly stereotypes women.

Important context before I quote the part that irritated me:

Ok here's my sober defense of my anti-Tar take. Never have I wanted to like a movie more. Loved the trailer! Cate Blanchett playing a problematic lesbian in a drama about classical music? All my boxes checked. Step on me etc. But the movie, well?
"We don't call women astronauts 'astronettes.'" She identifies as a patriarch, ok got it. She waves away gender as irrelevant, as the movie largely will (questionably I think. How many real female conductors lead major US symphonies? How many of them are abusers?) [...]

I don't like that Lydia Tar acts like a man. Gay women are usually anxious about being seen as predatory. Even actual lesbian abusers usually have a sense of needing to hide in the shadows. Lydia feels like a straight man to me, not a gay woman. Impossible to relate to.

Like she's so brazen. Flirting with a fan in front of her own assistant, with this relaxed sense of entitlement. Compare Tar to Judi Dench in Notes on a Scandal, who's desperate, ashamed, secretive--real and compelling, though also a predator.
This is me online all the time lol but with women:

'Women can be prime minister why can't they be a sexual predator? Women can be sexual predators. Women can be sexual predators. Women can be-' lol. (edit: or well I guess her argument is more with her personality alongside the predator aspect so 'disagreeable/masculine and predators')

    Someone else lol:

THAT'S THE WHOLE PREMISE, "WHAT IF A COOL [BEEP] WAS A SEXUAL PREDATOR???"

    Sorry I hate this movie
Someone brought up Camille Paglia and yeah she'd hate this too but then I'm non-binary, Camille Paglia identifies as trans... But we both still ID as women I think. Although I think she said she never once saw herself as a woman lol but I dunno it seems case specific. (Also everyone conveniently forgets Camille Paglia is trans.)

Oh and the other side which equally annoys me is her misandry. As someone else pointed out a lot of straight men are also very anxious about being seen as predatory but then someone pointed out 'not the straight guys who are actually predators' OK well yes even then some of them, if they're sensible and want to keep things down low which in this day and age they certainly would it's harder to get away with things since #metoo but also the personality type of being very disagreeable (think that's it really,) certainly isn't unique to men. Just look at Katie Hopkins.

This has consistently annoyed me about her content though and comments she makes since she came out as a trans woman lol. Way back when she made the Beauty video where she also ironically says 'perhaps lesbians are just straight up chillin' (but back then she was in denial about being a lesbian.) It is true though lesbian women care less about their physical appearance than other women and gay men. (There's research that shows that.) They care more than straight men although these days.. I dunno. That gap is certainly decreasing.

I understand why she made that video but some parts irritated me lol.

But even among women caring about beauty is often frowned upon. I feel like an alien species when I hang out with women in academia and I know a few because I once got half a PhD before dropping out to become a - what do you call someone who makes videos? A camgirl
Most female grad students and professors I know don't wear make up. To them the idea of earnestly putting on press on nails or eyelashes is inconceivable. Like maybe on Halloween.
So? (I'm not an academic lol. I'm not smart enough to monetise my neuroticism, but this is very me right down the only time I've worn makeup as an adult being Halloween once lol.)

Now part of that is that women in male-dominated fields sometimes feel like they have to present more masculine to be taken seriously because of this prejudice that beautified femininity equals frivolous but another part is clearly some kind of not like the other girls weird flex which OK, fine, whatever I'm not gonna judge another woman for the way she copes with a society that pressures women to be beautiful while simultaneously belittling them for caring about it.
Is femininity looked down on? Yes. But I'm tired of being gaslight by everyone about my preferences 'you just want to do x because society' from both sides lol. 'You're non-binary because society hates women' 'You don't wear makeup because society hates femininity' That's never been my motivation for not wearing makeup. Stop stripping genetic female people of their agency. God feminism can be annoying as fuck. And although most people don't care that I don't wear makeup as a teenager I did have a group of girls try to coerce me into wearing makeup (which I've talked about too many times lol, the makeover scene from every teen movie up until the mid 2000s but irl) 'you could be prettier than her' yes, but I don't care because I'm not part of that competition. To me makeup is something you wear when you have a masculine bone structure to be transgressive or as part of a stage performance. I find it attractive on other people. (edit: those are the contexts where I'd wear it I mean. And Halloween costumes I guess or if I was cosplaying as someone. I'm not going to use it to accentuate femininity or be more conventionally attractive in a feminine way because I have no interest in that and my features are feminine + neotenic and I always wanted to look more androgynous not less lol. I'm limited in ways to express that because I refuse to cut my hair short because I like having long hair.)

And I also think some terfs get annoyed with trans women for this reason. Their hatred/bigotry isn't justified though and it's honestly not unique to trans women people will do this with people who they aren't attracted to and who don't resemble them. 'Why do you think you're better than me? Society prefers you. You're being brainwashed to be this way by society. Why aren't you similar to me? You're making me feel alienated because I'm not like you.'

Also I hate the 'not like the other girls'/nlog thing I mostly see it used to criticise androgynous and alternative women and it's also used against trans men and non-binary people. I went onto the subreddit before and half the posts were just complaining about women posting stuff they liked that happened to be non-conforming in some way and they can [BEEP] off. Where we're at lol:

You can be a "tomboy" without being the "not like other girls" stereotype
Most of the time, the girls I see being called nlogs and pick-me girls are either teenagers that are still figuring themselves out, gender non-conforming women, and autistic women. Those in the latter two groups are often accused of trying to be "not like the other girls" for something as simple as disliking makeup, talking about their masculine-coded hobbies, talking about how isolated they feel when trying to conform to female gender roles, or expressing confusion about navigating relationships with other women. Idk, it just seems kind of unfair to refer to these people as nlogs and pick-mes.

Honestly I think movies and media that shows a tomboy girl who hates femeninity or other women are the main reason this stereotype exists.

Anyway ladies, what do you think? Have you had any experience with a nlog or pick-me that was older than 19-20 and did not fall into the other two categories? Do you think they are common or just outliers?
Like I didn't watch Matilda when I was growing up (Spoiler: Spoiler: which is basically what that plotline is about there's a feminine woman who invented cottage core being abused by her evil butch aunt who possibly killed her dad and likes to rant about women being married and things like that. There's a lot of Freudian [BEEP] to unpack here lol. and Matilda has to save her and then she adopts Matilda to save her from her neglectful family. In saying that though the feminine character is described as bookish as she's a school teacher and she's very traditionally feminine and the film is more critical of Matilda's mum who is implied to be shallow and obsessed with money and looks. Most of the characters are stereotypes.) I wanted to be Matilda lol (not the evil butch aunt.) I mean tbf who doesn't want to be super genius and have magical powers though was kind of easy lol.

Edit: Also I love TV Tropes it kind of works outside of entertainment lol:

    https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p...LikeOtherGirls

Sometimes, this term is used verbatim as a pejorative towards gender-nonconforming women by overbearing and reactionary female authority figures, female bullies, and, in more modern works, Straw Feminists. The idea is that if a woman is not stereotypically feminine, she is "like a man" and thus, free game for ostracism and bullying from her peers until she starts acting "normal" (read: feminine). This variation of the trope can sometimes go much further and the offending parties can suggest a woman is "not like other girls" because of her race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability - meaning they only consider women of their group to be "normal". In the case of the Straw Feminist variant, they believe that if a woman has stereotypically masculine interests or behaviours, or has more male friends than female ones, it must clearly be because she's a Category Traitor who hates her own gender and wants male approval.
    There are pages for everything:

    https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p...ategoryTraitor

So Contrapoints also said this about Lydia:

I've been trapped in rooms with academics like this for hundreds of hours of my life. Yes it's fun to laugh at them, but is the movie laughing?
I think some of the people she knew were quite terfy and criticised her before she transitioned for wearing nail polish etc. So she probably actually has trauma about this.

    https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...tube-interview

After Berklee, she became a philosophy major at Georgetown, where she started exploring her attraction to women's clothes in a more public way. "I would cross-dress in bars. It was fun, although a lot of alcohol was involved," she said, smiling wryly. "I would paint my nails and do makeup and stuff. By the time I was in grad school" at Northwestern, where she pursued a PhD in philosophy - "I was 25. I wasn't passing as a woman or anything. People still recognized that I was a man."
Wynn recalled a woman in her department who was a "terf". "She told me that I needed to get psychiatric help because of the makeup and nail polish. I think she was very hostile to any feminine ornamentation, period, and viewed that as the dressings of male oppression forced upon women."
    But it still annoys me.

Wynn's ability to see the other person's side of things often extends to those who have hurt her as well. "I always sympathize with these people, she said. The woman at Northwestern 'is not a happy person', she said. 'I feel bad for her I think there's a lack of understanding about male femininity and what that means in our culture and how it's treated. Men wearing makeup is not appropriating female culture. There's no such thing as female culture. Gender is within a culture, and gender mandates categories of existence, I guess, and it forces you into one based on the sex assigned to you at birth."
I don't think she gets it though. Because she ultimately seems to think that GNC women don't wear makeup etc for social benefits or to feel superior to other women lol, without considering alternative motivations.

    Lol:

    Quote Virginia Woolf
No age can ever have been as stridently sex-conscious as our own; those innumerable books by men about women in the British Museum are a proof of it. The Suffrage campaign was no doubt to blame. It must have roused in men an extraordinary desire for self-assertion; it must have made them lay an emphasis upon their own sex and its characteristics which they would not have troubled to think about had they not been challenged. And when one is challenged, even by a few women in black bonnets, one retaliates, if one has never been challenged before, rather excessively.

This is from an article about Cate Blanchett and some comments she made in Vanity Fair:

    https://www.themarysue.com/what-is-c...air-interview/

You've heard the phrase, "never meet your heroes." If you love Cate Blanchett, like me, the more relevant phrase right now might be "never read your hero's interview in the new Vanity Fair."
"I don't think about my gender or my sexuality,"

"For me in school," she continued, 'it was David Bowie, it was Annie Lennox. There's always been that sort of gender fluidity.' Ok, great. So no hate crimes at your school or work? No stabbings? No midnight kidnappings and months held against your will at conversion therapy camps? Ok great! That's probably one reason why you "don't think" about your gender or sexuality. Lucky you! Is embracing gender fluidity while refuting the validation many people find in "labels" and language the gender and sexuality equivalent of saying "I don't see color?" No, but it's close and it's disgusting.
I think this is a somewhat unfair reading of that looking now. She's an actress and she's sad that her opportunities are being limited by rigidity and I don't disagree with that analysis. It's something a lot of older musicians and actors etc express and I sympathise with them because there's so much pressure now to only be allowed to express yourself in certain ways if you adopt certain labels etc. IAMX expressed something similar a while back.

    https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood...awards-insider

Blanchett has said she drew from various artists and musicians in creating Tar, and tells me the character is totally fictitious "a fantasy." How much did she factor in that she'd be playing a [BEEP] person who defied the odds, only to be corrupted by power? "I don't think about my gender or my sexuality," she says. "For me in school, it was David Bowie, it was Annie Lennox. There's always been that sort of gender fluidity." This echoes the 2015 video installation Manifesto, in which she adopted 13 distinctive personas while delivering pieces of famous polemical speeches, as well as her Bob Dylan in I'm Not There. But I press her on this a bit, and she admits to feeling perplexed by the very notion of having to think about stepping into an identity outside of her own: "I have to really listen very hard when people have an issue with it. I just don't understand the language they're speaking, and I need to understand it because you can't dismiss the obsession with those labels behind the obsession is something really important. But personally I've never had it."
A crucial early scene in Tar, filmed in one virtuosic take, finds Lydia in a heated argument with her student at Juilliard over separating the art from the artist, the creative value of diversity, and the changing of the canonical guards. The student in question identifies as a "BIPOC pan-gender person," which visibly rankles Lydia. She berates him until he calls her a [BEEP] and storms out. 'That's what Todd does?there are no answers to these things, but the conversation's really important, Blanchett says. She considers Carol: 'If it was made now, me not being gay would I be given public permission to play that role?' I ask if she thinks she should be. 'I don't know the answer to that,' she says.

The topic clearly weighs on Blanchett, as she understands the sensitivity around it--and the potential for saying the wrong thing. "If you and I were having a conversation [25 years ago], it would be in your publication and that was it," she says. "Now, somehow it's like these opinions get published, and Scarlett Johansson doesn't play a role that maybe she was the only person who could play it." (This likely refers to Johansson, after backlash, exiting a project in which she was to play a transgender man.) She adds, "I don't want to offend anybody. I don't want to speak for anybody else."
This song/video is just insanely relevant all the time haha (it's about Harry Styles but applies here too):

Putting on a dress that's so freaking brave of ya
OMG obsessed with that cute behaviour
Never had to stress it might lead to danger yeah
You are the saviour, you are the saviour
(He must be one of good ones)

Do the right thing, admit that you're faking it
Fucking little [BEEP] go fix your behaviour
Yes we know best so fit to the label
    Fit to the label
    Fit to the label
(We must be some of the good ones)

Remember this (a lot of people fetishise her as a [BEEP] woman):

Ok here's my sober defense of my anti-Tar take. Never have I wanted to like a movie more. Loved the trailer! Cate Blanchett playing a problematic lesbian in a drama about classical music? All my boxes checked. Step on me etc. But the movie, well?
'The character is too much like a straight man,' and 'she doesn't care about her identity enough and she isn't [BEEP] enough.'

People also have issues with the writing and that it was written by a straight guy obviously. 'It's a man writing a woman' etc. I haven't seen the whole film only clips, but even if the character seems exactly like a straight guy I have seen and come across women who are like that, so even if it's not common it's still possible. I've disliked female characters written by women before (Bella Swan,) so I don't think the author's gender matters. It really just depends on personal preference, and whether they're good writers.

I know people complained that Tomb Raider was a character written to both appeal to men sexually and acted like a man (I think early in development they were planning on giving the player an option to pick between a male and female character for the first game in the series but they didn't want to do two loads of cutscenes so they stuck with Lara.) Later they brought in a female writer (Rhianna Pratchett think she also wrote Mirror's Edge,) to write the prequel video games (or at least one of them, the one I played definitely Tomb Raider 2013.) Her personality and vibe was quite different and I didn't like it as much from what I remember, but I understand that they were going for 'vulnerable young woman who isn't the person she is later yet.' Because it's a prequel. So I didn't finish the game but that's not really why. I don't think the gameplay was really appealing to me at that point.

Sort of like Anakin vs Darth Vader. A lot of people didn't like that either because Darth Vader was a very different character from whiny Anakin. People often hate characters like that the same with Kylo Ren - I know a lot of people hated him my brother disliked him I think - but I didn't mind him. Also part of that dislike was that he wasn't Darth Vader and wasn't a real villain which is fair a lot of villains now are complicated anti villains with emotional dysregulation and mental illness symptoms lol. I don't remember ever liking Anakin though they've been compared. I actually was a huge fan of Qui Gon Jinn as a kid for some reason. But as an adult I related to Kylo Ren's emotional issues I guess? I dunno it's been years since I watched the films and I only watched them once. I also really like Loki so I think it's vaguely similar (I find Loki attractive too though but also relatable in some ways.) Because I'm kind of an asshole I guess and they all have vulnerable narcissistic traits which I also have to some degree I think, but also cause I watch Auralnauts and it's kind of hilarious (so that complicates things a bit I also have personal headcannons for Loki that don't necessarily reflect cannon. I've always read fanfiction so if I don't like something I re-write it in my brain either way lmfao. Semiotic democracy):

Oh my God and I just discovered this video:

There are a lot of different characters I can relate to though *corny quote about containing multitudes or whatever* or at least appreciate on some level if I don't relate to them. But no I didn't really like any of the characters in Twilight it's kind of rare for me to watch/read something and not develop a connection with any character or relate to one of them but that's what happened while reading Twilight, but the books were still entertaining enough that I read them all (or the first four anyway.)

With all that being said I still don't want to watch it because I watched that scene with the 'BIPOC pangender character' and I just find the fact that we have to have Oscar-bait movies about the culture war, and Oxford Union debates about 'wokeness' so very tedious. Like how do you even get away from social media discourse in today's society lol? It's everywhere. Even my dad brought up stuff about 'what is a woman' and trans people etc when I visited him the last two times. This is going to be an increasing massive pain because I'm closeted with him.

I don't want a film about cancel culture or whatever. I don't want to listen to Dave Chappelle rant about how he's being cancelled and how he's team terf for over an hour. 😩 It's something you neurotically schizopost about on a half dead internet forum not a comedy act.

    And wtf is this?

    Where was the joke?

Here you go if you must do this:

I'm just going to watch this or something:

guess that what makes this country so great we can all agree and disagree,
The country of the internet lol? (it is in a sense.) I'm assuming they mean America though haha but I'm not from there.

edit: So this guy was doing the kind of 'kids these days listening to this music it's bad' thing in YouTube comments and I pointed out that I actually thought this one musician was a decent vocalist though the current track wasn't a great example, then he responded saying he mostly listens to rock and metal music and finds a lot of music now lazy etc plus that quoted part, I responded again saying I'm from the UK and that I wasn't a huge fan of the track either, suggested a different song by them, then said I listen to everything but prefer rock music, then they responded with:

I'm from the UK aswell, maybe we could get together and rock out to some Nirvana, or if you bring the guns I'll bring the roses 🌹😉
He has no idea what I look like or anything about me except that I like rock music. The line is kind of clever though.

(I assume he looked at my YouTube profile though and saw that I was located in the UK there. I also have a bunch of travel videos from years ago but I'm not on camera in any of them just filming stuff.)

This is the second time something sort of like this has happened in the past year and I'm very confused. Another time on twitter I was arguing with this trans woman who felt this one person I follow was transphobic and we went back and forth a little bit and during the course of that conversation I actually mentioned an opinion I have that is reasonably controversial for the trans community that would piss a lot of people off (I mean it became relevant,) then she started following me and is now the only person who consistently likes or responds to any of my tweets (well on that account.) I mean I follow many people I disagree with I guess but probably wouldn't in that sort of situation and it's twitter which is usually very hostile.

I also don't really like it when people joke flirt with me tbh (or seriously flirt) in most cases, because I have no idea how to respond because I can't flirt. I'm very socially awkward. This is fine since I can just ignore it and it's online but very awkward irl.
