If someone attacks you unprovoked, is it OK to defend yourself to the best of your abilities?

'defend'? of course, but it all depends on your own abilities right. I mean if you are smaller or they have a weapon of some sort then you may need to use more force to protect yourself, which may not be enough but as long as you try.
I've always been a fan of aikido because it is all about re-channeling energy, using someones momentum to get them to the ground and in a position where they can't hurt you, themselves or anyone else. Protecting yourself while focusing on the attackers safety. Some people like teh idea of making attackers hurt or die etc but a lot of them may not be in a stable mind-frame, for all you know it could be out of character for them and helping them may be what is needed. really depends but I do generally like the idea of defending without causing any unnecessary pain/conflict, can be counter-productive.

I can't imagine not defending myself to the best of my abilities, so yes. Unless they're pistol-whipping you, in which case it's probably best not to antagonize them and risk getting the other end of the pistol.

Sometimes the thoughts that keep me up at night have nothing to do with my psychological issues. Sometimes they just consist of, "I wonder what my white cat would look like if he were black? I wonder what my black cat would look like if she were white?"
And that pretty much sums up the direction my life has been leaning towards for the past 5 months. Cats. Cats and nowhere.

Well thought I got a lucky break in my job search...turns out it was some random insurance company that wanted me to go door to door to sell people life insurance...koalas arent meant to do that!
