Sometimes I get more nervous than I should calling someone I've met before. Does this happen to anyone else?

The phone is my nightmare.
life---> <---me
I get nervous when calling someone I've NEVER met before. Sometimes I do get that way with people I've met and known already, but it depends on the person as well; most of the time it's not much of an issue though. As for calling people I've never met, gah... I wasn't too anxious today calling someone to interview them for the newspaper (I'm a journalism intern), but man... since this was a cold call to this person, they were anxious...you could hear it lol. It came out of nowhere so they hesitated quite a bit, trying to wrap their mind around what's going on, which kinda made me anxious lol. This wasn't some official or authoritative figure either, otherwise they wouldn't have reacted the way this person did. This was an average joe, if you will... so ya.. I felt kinda bad for making them freak out and having the "WOAH INTERVIEW? THIS CAME OUT OF NOWHERE" attitude.
I'm not a fan of receiving or making calls, with very few exceptions. Helps to know the person, and it's pretty terrible with people I don't know.

I work in a call center. Was nervous but had no choice $$$$$$$$
All the time!
I am in a relationship with someone, and I can talk to them fine in person...but once I get on the phone, I get real nervous and I hardly know what to say...it get's awkward.
Yeah I absolutely hate the phone. The only people I ever talk to are my dad and my ex-wife, but I get nervous talking to them. I end up sounding so awkward and nervous. Not sure why.

If you still have more dreams than regrets, congratulations. You haven't gotten old yet.
Spend every moment like it's your last. Hug her, kiss her, hold her, like it's the last time that you ever will. Because it might be.
yeah the phone is awful because it forces you to initiate if you're the one dialing. that's like going up to someone and saying 'hi'. it can be bad to call friends too if you haven't seen them for awhile and aren't messaging them a lot. i could never do the saying 'hi' thing even to kids who i wanted to make conversation with, and the only time i've made phonecalls is when i walked out of a therapy session which always left me feeling like i was walking on clouds a bit or when i exited the dentists office after being under the nitrogen oxide gas (i called my friend twice after dentist appointments for cavity fillings) because then i was really soaring and could do anything even dial my friends number into my cellphone. i think i came off strange in those phonecalls especially in the one i remember most but at least i did it.
Yep, all the time. I suppose it would help if I had caller ID, but my phone bill is high enough already without that add-on.
Yes, this happens to me. I really dislike the phone, waiting for a call is the worst for me.
