Ya'll wanna hear something funny?

So I get a letter in the mail telling me I've been chose to be involved in the Neilsen ratings. For those folks who may not have said rating system in their country, the Neilsen ratings is a survey they give to people to see what TV shows are being watched.

They've called my home about 18 times and I actually picked up one of their calls. They asked me what shows I watch.

I said, "none." I don't watch TV.

Then they said "why?" I said because everything on TV is dumb and stupid.

Then they said, "That's the kind of information we need."

I said, "Ok. Can I go now?"

They said, "So what shows do you watch?"

I said, "Uh. None. That's what I don't watch TV means."

They said, "So you've been chose to participate in the Neilsen ratings."

I went, "Ok. Can I go now?"

The person said, "Ok."


So a week later I get a big package in the mail from the Neilsen ratings people.

The packet had a TV viewing log and 5 one dollar bills.

I pocketed the money and looked at the log. That was the easiest 5 dollars I ever made.

My viewing log is blank.

Why?

(Let's say it together) Because I don't watch TV.


I hope I get chosen again next year. I like getting 5 dollars for doing nothing.

I got picked for that too! At first they sent a survey with 5 ones and I filled it out and sent it back. Then they sent a packet with the logs and this time they had 10 ones. I filled out a packet (incorrectly sort of) and sent it back. Nothing happened after that but that's my contribution to society. I like to think I'm the reason some shows are still on the air.

They called me again and I stopped them from quoting the same speech I got 25 times. I said. "Look. I don't watch TV. Why can't you guys understand that. But thanks for the 5 dollars. I needed that.

So she says, "Well do you want to not participate?"

I said, "Oh, no. I want to stay in. I hear I'll get 10.00 next time. I'll still have a blank log and harass you guys when you call, but keep the money rolling in."
