Avatars? Where do you get them from?

I need to get an avatar.I havent got one to upload.Can anyone suggest any sites so I can get one?Preferably a free site.

Hi.I just like those cartoon looking characters.You see them on yahoo7answers .People use them for their profile photo.Tried google for it but even though I found sites I never had much luck figuring it out how to make one.Seen a few on facebook too.

I got mine from google. I can't remember what I put in to search, I think it was "inspirational quotes."

I had a good look through the links you provided.I found a site that I could figure out.It seems that yahoo avatars are the ones that people use on yahooanswers.I made 3 of them now.Just cant figure out how to upload them one of them here.I did upload them but it failed.I think I need to use a small version of the avatar,then upload that here.
