These accents and words are great! I wonder how some words that are spelled the same end up sounding so different. "Like" who changed it? (Thought I'd throw in a bit of Southern California)

A lot the differences here in Ireland are to do with direct translation for out native language Irish, we have some strange grammar compared to the rest of the world too.

Jokingly over here we say that Americans simplified English spellings. (words like center are spelt centre here, and words that would end in or in America end in our). A lot of words in American English mean something entirely different in British English.

What you call "Jelly" for example inbox what we call Jelly. Apparently you call what we call Jelly "Jell-O" and we call what you call Jello "Jam"

We call what you call Chips "Crisps" and what we call Chips are apparently called "French Fries".

And then I once said "I don't give a toss" on a forum. Might not have been American, but apparently, it didn't mean what it meant here ("I don't give a damn/don't care). That one was kinda awkward.

    Language can be weird sometimes

I hope you don't have to adapt to any type of dialect when you're posting on a forum. We should all be able to express our cultural differences in the English language, since there is not a "right" way to say things. Its also fun to learn what things mean in other countries. Apparently, Fish and chips is definitely not an American food! And neither is the "Peanut butter jelly time" song?

Nah, It's okay. It was a pretty hilarious issue.

You're right, it is pretty funny. And I don't think Fish and Chips is an American food. Shops selling Fish and Chips are pretty common over here.
