I noticed you added the "and why," so I'll tell you why I chose jealousy

I believe that when people think others have more of something whether it be material things, popularity, love, freedom, land, etc. they feel they are missing something in their life. They spiral down the self-pity route, telling themselves they deserve whatever it is and become bitter and resentful because they don't have it. Then they focus on what they don't have rather than be grateful for what they have.

Those of us here all have access to a computer while there are others on the planet fighting just to stay alive. Just the simple act of acknowledging that we are blessed enough to have computer access means we're getting "just enough" for communication.

Jealousy causes us to believe "just enough" isn't enough. There will always be an area in our lives where we think we need more than enough and will look at the people who have an abundance in that specific area. I need more height and years to my life. Others have it. I could spend my day hating those people who are younger or taller than me. That would be jealousy. But does it change the fact that I'm short and older than you guys? No. All it does is waste precious time and make me bitter and resentful.

So if our world was content about their lives and didn't look at what others had, I believe we would all be happier. A happier world might mean less wars, more resources to go around (because people may not hoard wealth and such), and better human relationships. Rather than gossiping, hating on someone, and generally picking at them because we're jealous, we might actually live and let live.

Hate among people.

If there was no hate, we most likely wouldn't have had slavery. There wouldn't be much jealousy, I don't think. There wouldn't be wars and innocent people dying.

I know eliminating hate wouldn't make everything 10000% in the world, but I think it'd rid a lot of other evil in the process. That's progress.
