    Extraterrestrial Life?

Do you believe there is extraterrestrial life?

If so, do you think we should attempt to contact them?

Or should we avoid them in case they are an aggressive species?

They undoubtedly exist. The universe is simply to large a place for there not to be another life-sustaining planet out there.

    I agree!

But what are the odds that we will be able to comprehend them if we encounter them, or vice versa?

Perhaps we would be like ants to them -- we could be so unintelligent compared to them that they pass our planet on a frequent basis and treat it no differently than a person driving down a road with an anthill beside it.

I always have been interested on this subject. I read books about alien abduction and it was very strange and interesting lol. I hate admitting this actually..

Think about Aliens looking at this planet and what we have done to it. Would you want to make contact with us? We have all but destroyed our own planet. They would run the other way. Is good to imagine such things exist. I think if anything is found it will be tiny. Nothing of a human nature. More microbe and the likes. They have just discovered another planet that almost mimics earth. Meaning it has a sun about the same distance as our own. But it is million of light years away in another galaxy. We may never know for sure. But it looks good to have some form of life on it. Not saying other humans. Fact is we may never know.

This is a very good point.... if I was an alien I don't think I'd want to meet humans!

I agree with Lunaire... What we have done to the planet Earth is nothing short of criminal. Now, here are the lyrics to Stevie Wonder's song, "Saturn", my favorite song by him...

    "Saturn"

    Packing my bags-going away
To a place where the air is clean
    On Saturn
There's no sense to sit and watch the people die
We don't fight our wars the way you do
We put back all the things we use
    On Saturn
There's no sense to keep on doing such crimes

There's no principles in what you say
No direction in the things you do
For your world is soon to come to a close
Through the ages all great men have taught
Truth and happiness just can't be bought-or sold
Tell me why are you people so cold

    I'm......
Going back to Saturn where the rings all glow
    Rainbow, moonbeams and orange snow
    On Saturn
People live to be two hundred and five
Going back to Saturn where the people smile
Don't need cars cause we've learn to fly
    On Saturn
Just to live to us is our natural high

We have come here many times before
To find your strategy to peace is war
Killing helpless men, women and children
That don't even know what they are dying for
We can't trust you when you take a stand
With a cold expression on your face
Saying give us what we want or we'll destroy

I would bet aliens are doing the same thing to their planets, though.

What if we find a lifeform that does even worse things to the environments they encounter than we do?

Would you still want to meet them?

I think this sums it up pretty well. There's no doubt that there's life somewhere else, but the odds of us ever finding it or making contact I think are incredibly slim. I'm not sure if I would want to make contact if we knew there was other life out there. I mean are they going to be nice aliens or are we going to send Will Smith to [BEEP] [BEEP] up again

They might not be able to make contact with us. Extraterrestrial life could very much mean a couples of shrubs in a galaxy far far away.

We'd teach them a thing or two.
