Thank you, @Total Eclipse , it's not too bad. Had to cancel my doctor's appointment this morning due to cold symptoms. I've rebooked it far in the future (next month) but the receptionist still insisted that I do a PCR test. An at-home lateral flow test is the best I am willing to do, I'm afraid. Other people sticking things up my nose always ends in horrible pain and if I can avoid it, I will. I mean, if lateral flow tests are not working it's because they sold the contracts to American pharma without them even doing proper testing.
It seems like they're doing it a lot these days. Hope you can make it!
Sorry if you're not in the Uk (think I've seen you mention you are though), but are you not able to order and do a PCR at home? https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Good point, I didn't know about this. I've gone through the ordering process and apparently I don't qualify as my symptoms are not coronavirus symptoms (they are according to the GP surgery receptionist, though). Oh well. I gave it a good go. Home lateral flow test came back as negative, btw.
Edit: I included the GP receptionist as a 'healthcare professional' and that got me through. Ordered a test kit. Thanks!
