Merry Christmas everyone!!!
How is everybody’s holiday going? (Or how did it go if you’re seeing this after the holiday?)
Happy Christmas to you and everybody else.
Weird one here. Mother back in hospital. Operation late yesterday evening. I could stay with her up till about 6. Covid rules in hospitals. Then went and got her PJs and the likes as we didn't know they were going to operate on here yesterday. So it was a busy day. Talking on the phone to the mother a lot today. She is doing good. Doctors are happy with everything. May be home tomorrow.

Merry Christmas, all.
Netflix, wine, and food for me today.
@Cuchculan sorry to hear that, awful day to be having medical problems.
Glad to hear she may be home tomorrow though.
@Heelsbythebridge that sounds wonderful! Nothing like a low-key holiday.
Happy to report that my Christmas is similarly relaxing and drama free. Just catching up on some gaming today.
Merry Christmas!
Similarly relaxing and drama free here.
Boxing day tomorrow a thing outside the UK? Assume there was once something to do with boxes. Now just a day when everyone goes shopping.

Merry Christmas! Kitty enjoyed his present this morning. Here's a short video: link
I'm not sure if the link will work. He licked his present. I guess he really likes feathers.

The destiny she?s reaching for

@Otherside hooray for no drama! I’ve heard of Boxing Day referenced here and there but I don’t think it’s really celebrated much in the States, at least in the region I’m at. There may be pockets that recognize it, we’re a pretty large country after all. Didn’t look up where the name comes from but I’m going to assume it’s from dealing with all of the re-boxing as everyone returns their unwanted gifts the day after Xmas.
@firestar what a royal looking cat! So cute that you got him a Christmas present. Thanks for sharing the video.
@Otherside Boxing Day is also observed in Canada.
Boxing day = Stephen's day. The holiday, which was initially held on December 27, was moved ahead a day through the travails of time. It came about in the old British Empire, where rich people would give boxes full of presents, cash, food, etc to their servants who would often travel home.

Oh, giving boxes sounds familiar. Something to do with giving boxes to the poor I think here?
Is now just a day for shopping(our black friday), or for lazing around the house eating the rest of the mince pies and watching Christmas specials. Which is what I'm doing.

Rich people who had servants would give the servants boxes with things in it. Be it money or food or whatever. That side of things is long since over. These days you can have the sales begin. Or a day of doing nothing at all. Lazy day.
