How do we respond when we witness talent like this? Generational talent, once in a lifetime...

I've lived through historical moments like this but it takes my breath away each time and it's a pity it can't last.

The moment, where something matters, you remember how something could matter

edit: And at the point Glinner decided to react to this person they had no evidence of being trans or non-binary on their profile. I know because people responded defending them saying they weren't a trans woman and using he/him pronouns for them (because he posted a screenshot which revealed their username which led people to look it up.) Which very ironically later pushed them to put they/them pronouns in their bio because people kept misgendering them. So while they had no info there before Glinner decided to have a go (because he saw someone with masculine bone structure wearing makeup saying they felt 'pretty' and that triggered him,) they actually signalled their identity even more after he was done lol! Which is why I say his approach is very counterproductive.

And yeah that's what Glinner's been using his platform for for several months at least.
I also know at least one fairly transphobic gay man on twitter (they have complicated views like they support some trans people conditionally but not others,) who has they/them pronouns in their bio and is claiming to be non-binary in bio now despite being against non-binary people. Openly admitting that they're doing this purely to piss off terfs because they hate them more. So yeah as I said.

So wasn't surprised to see this protest. There are a few points in this video where several different groups/people are arguing with each other. It's sort of a reflection of what's going on online in general.

The protest was about a drag queen story hour event (which is where it was taking place,) but it also wasn't because there were arguments going on alongside about Jewish people and race and about medically transitioning, homosexuality, the history of sexology including a Jewish researcher Magnus Hirschfeld (at one point one guy calls him Albert accidentally lol) and whether drag is inherently sexual.

The far right often collapses everything into a single issue where everything is a top down racial/national power struggle (the far left sometimes does something similar with capitalism where everything bad is because of 'capitalism' and acting like there were magically no issues before capitalism lol.) The far right usually place Jewish people in control because they've consistently been in positions of influence and high status in various societies throughout history so they've been used this way for millenia. But sometimes they replace being Jewish ethnically or religiously with 'spiritually' like a kind of personality (this seems a bit more common now than it was in the early 20th century.)

So in a similar way people have posted around this study that showed lesbian/bisexual (gynephilic) trans women have a higher IQ:

A study on trans women that measured IQ amongst other things revealed an average IQ of 107 for androphilic and 121 for gynophilic trans women.
trans lesbians are one of the most intelligent minority groups.
(Edit: I mean this person didn't even bother to link it lol. But yeah the paper is: Transsexual subtypes: Clinical and theoretical significance)

But this is actually because it's old research and in the past you pretty much had to be successful materially to transition (which correlates with IQ.) Actually trans people are more likely to live in poverty now and I expect there's still some effect but with self medication and other things less so than in the past.

There's also some incentive for androphilic trans women to transition as they tend to be gender conforming after transition but not before, whereas gynephilic trans women are often the opposite and fitting in requires more work, there was much less awareness/knowledge of this option in the past too (even more so for trans men who rarely transitioned unless they were gynephilic.) So they also found something similar for trans men where androphilic trans men had a higher IQ on average and actually that paper showed they had the highest IQ in the group but not a huge difference (nonhomosexual in reference to birth sex):

    107.3 (S.D. = 14.3) for the MF homosexuals (n = 39), 121.7 (S.D. = 17.2) for the MF nonhomosexuals (n = 42), 114.8 (S.D. = 18.4) for the FM homosexuals (n = 43), and 123.7 (S.D. = 17.8 ) for the FM nonhomosexuals (n = 19).
So why the focus on gynephilic trans women? Well trans men are never going to be the scapegoat because the scapegoat has to be genetically male or a non-white race of people. Can't be white genetic females. (edit: I mean the far right can demonise individual white cis women but imo they can't go after a group like this because it distracts from the victimhood narrative they've built where all white cis women are being transed. And they justify their ideology by claiming to be saving white people and especially white women because it makes them feel masculine right.)

It's important for transphobes to be faced with combative trans men. It destroys their victim narrative. I am sorry if people disagree with my bluntness, or my confrontations, but I promised my kid self I would never be someone's victim again. I will keep that promise.
Also I think their sexism probably just caused them to have a mental block and not notice LOL. The paper wasn't about trans women it was about transsexual people. The invisibility of trans men is amazing but I've said that like a billion times at this point.

"The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Pulled Was Convincing the World He Didn't Exist"

Then Nick Land came along and said this in response to someone talking about this research:

Known. Partly accounts for their extraordinarily disproportionate influence. They're the Jews of gender.
What is the point of this goddamn website if the people I know are going to let me miss it when Nick Land says that "trans women are the Jews of gender"
You only have yourself to blame for not being pathologically online. (Also his twitter handle isn't even Nick Land lol so you have to be online enough to know what it is in the first place.)

A lot of people aren't aware of this paper but still have this internalised notion that every trans woman who isn't exclusively attracted to men or young is some kind of billionaire or politician or a lawyer or in business otherwise famous and successful. Mostly because they haven't really met any. I̶ ̶m̶e̶a̶n̶ ̶c̶l̶e̶a̶r̶l̶y̶ ̶m̶o̶s̶t̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶v̶e̶l̶o̶p̶e̶r̶s̶

Btw I think IQ is mostly a meme I took an equivalent test when I was 11 and scored 94, but then a few years ago someone on Discord asked me to take one and I got 119. I think 94 is closer to accurate because I'm quite mentally slow and not successful in life, but that seems like a huge gap and everyone online seems to have crazy high scores (but there might be a selection effect for people who post their IQ score.) Also if 94 is real I haven't failed as much.

    This is real lol:

anyway unironically IQ tests are fake and the real test of intelligence is executive function
But I think it gets so much attention not because of disproportionate influence but because guys are weirded out by gender nonconformity in genetic male people, and there's some theories about why that is. Joyce Benenson has written about her theories. But you can debate about why. This is from her book Warriors and Worriers: The Survival of the Sexes:

The Strange Case of Males' Attitude Toward Homosexuality

The desire to have peers who are potential allies in a group targeting the enemy may increase understanding of one of the more difficult parts of males social behavior their instinctive aversion to feminine boys, and by extension to homosexuality. Many nonhuman male primates will scapegoat or displace their aggression onto the weakest males, but there is no evidence that weak males are excluded as long as they defer to stronger ones. But boys taunt and even bully their less masculine peers [148]. Even in the most politically correct environments, boys will often insult or attack boys who behave like girls. What is it about a boy who behaves like a girl that males don't like? A boy who behaves like a girl does not like play fighting, targeting enemies, or one-on-one competition. He might even enjoy domestic activities.
    [...]
If you ask children who are younger than 5 or 6 whether a person can change from one sex into the other, they will respond affirmatively. After this age, they think the question is ridiculous. No researcher has managed to persuade a child older than 5 or 6 years that simply changing the length of one?s hair or one?s clothing will transform a child of one sex into the other sex. But that's not how boys, or men, actually behave. Th ey seem to believe that some boys (or men) can indeed turn into girls. If a boy in Western society grows waist-length hair and wears frilly dresses to school, most boys believe that he has essentially become a girl, no matter how old they are when you ask them. Most men do too. Feminine boys can readily be identified by males of any age. Feminine boys may not enjoy play fighting, enemy detection, or engaging in direct competition. They may prefer to cook in the kitchen, care for baby dolls, or dress up as attractive young women [116, 117].

Most boys do not like feminine boys and tease them or try hard to change them into 'real' boys. Around the world, boys expend much more effort and time than girls in assessing the extent to which a boy is a 'real boy' [155]. Just like being manly seems to mean being ready to join a fighting force, being a real boy does too. Early in life, long before boys understand what homosexuality or transgender categories are, boys seem to share a picture of what it takes to be a boy.

    [...]

Men in many countries treat effeminate men the same way that preschool-age boys treat feminine boys [157159]. One of the chief ways that this plays out is in attitudes toward homosexuality. Men dislike homosexuality much more than women do, especially homosexual men [160]. Why is this? There is evidence that men's dislike of homosexuality is more about fear of effeminate male behavior than fear of actual homoerotic behavior.

Little boys brains are wired to [citation needed] identify and eliminate boys who could not perform as trusted allies in times of war. The key problem with homosexuality from the male perspective lies in the subset of homosexual males who do not enjoy play fighting, targeting enemies, and one-on-one competition[166]. Boys who display blatantly feminine behavior in early childhood by wishing to be girls, by preferring to associate with girls, and by engaging in girls activities generally do not enjoy male activities.
I thought she also went into an anecdote involving hair length and certain cultures but she doesn't... Really wish I could remember what I was reading because I only have a vague recollection. I actually think it was a different topic though lol now that I'm thinking about it like they cut people's hair out of envy because it was getting too much female attention.

People have a tendency to either fetishise or demonise people like that so it gets huge amounts of attention. Fascists fetishise war and if you read their comments online or the books written by fascists you'll see that a lot it really pops out at you. 'War is to men what maternity is to women.' And all that. Also many high profile fascists and members of the far right have been masculine homosexual men so I see no contradiction there as she suggests. Though Ernst Rohm was killed eventually, I believe this was mostly because Hitler couldn't tolerate his popularity and thought he was plotting against him.

Now on top of that you have trans women who don't exactly fall into this group but are threatening to (some) women (and by extension paternalistic men,) because they don't actually mimic female stereotypes well enough. I question this point that that Benenson brings up in her book but this was published right at the dawn of the present culture war so I'm sure she had in mind someone like Blaire White when writing this:

A girl is accepted as a girl regardless of her feelings about being a girl, her play partners, or her sex-role behaviors; even a boy can be a girl if he wants to be. To be a boy requires fitting through a much narrower filter.
Failing manhood doesn't automatically grant you access to the female group even if you're genetically female and even different people can have a different opinion on group boundaries. (And terfs hilariously chuck people out of the category all the time most often for defending trans women because that concept is entirely foreign to them lmao.) 'Lived experience':

edit: So the person in this video id's as genderfluid now I think, but they're somewhat ambivalent about that, and they say in this video that at a young age they were rejected by both boys and girls. So it's not guaranteed as I say that you'll be accepted by girls just because boys reject you. Also female friendships are usually dyadic so you generally need to find one person who accepts you and a bunch probably will reject you.

This isn't necessarily because you're gender non-conforming though my bully always seemed feminine to me but she was consistently rejected by everyone throughout primary school until me and my friends decided to give her a chance when we were 10 because she asked us if she could hang out with us (big mistake,) but she hadn't learnt to socialise properly. So even before that age she kept trying to force me to play with her and was in general quite controlling. We were paired up for IT lessons when I was 8 by the teacher because back then we had to share computers as there weren't enough for 1 per person, and when I did something she didn't like she'd dig her nails into my skin. This was difficult for me because I had severe social anxiety (I was actually diagnosed with selective mutism at one point.) This is the same person who tried to manipulate me into believing I caused her to self harm when we were 11 because other students told the teacher she was bullying me, she kept insisting I was a lesbian that I was in an incestuous relationship with my mum, generally insulting me a lot, convinced another girl that it was OK for her to bully me when we were in secondary school because of what happened with the other students when I was 11. The same girl later admitted that she bullies me to someone else. I don't know it's very weird she also had a lot of power over people. That's why I say she was kind of psychopathic but it took her a while to figure out how to do that. But she both did and didn't because a lot of people knew that her behaviour was wrong at the same time. The same girl who made me repeatedly act out scenes from Harry Potter with her at one point lol cause she had a crush on Snape so was really into this one scene. Suffice to say most people knew there was something wrong with her and they picked up on that from a young age. She did better in secondary school than primary, but still fell out with lots of people throughout her school years. She got into a physical fight with a boy at one point who was annoying her, physically attacked me because my brother was annoying her (was kind of a pathetic attempt though lol,) on another occasion she blamed me for the fact she tripped over while trying to escape my brother shooting her with a water gun, a black girl got annoyed with her because she kept touching her hair without permission. She was friends with this Muslim girl and she tried to remove her hijab. There was another girl she fell out with but I can't remember the details there. But I've blocked out/forgotten lots of stuff. Also teachers were useless the entire time btw lol that's why I don't agree with the education system especially in working class towns.

This happens to cis lesbians too, and other non-conforming women, trans men, non-binary people. And the media took the same approach in the 90s with villainising lesbians as being predators. Butch women are still harassed out of the women's toilets and female spaces. Cis lesbians are still genetically female though, so get some amount of leeway from people on that basis I believe. But that varies by culture.

edit: And the great thing about the internet is that you can see how different people categorise people genderwise based on both appearance - clothing, facial structure, the angle of photos and also personality, viewpoints and behaviour when someone doesn't post photos or videos.

This collapsing of everything into the same theory 'this group is engineering everything to eliminate white people' also means debate is completely impossible on an issue by issue basis. So the protest as you can see was just entirely useless. Just a bunch of people yelling and fighting each other. And twitter functions the same way. Nobody ever discusses anything. But the appeal of this is actually very instinctive and animalistic from the comments on the protest video with 62 upvotes:

This is more exciting than most of the movies coming out of Hollywood
You know what I abhor? How much important science is just stuck behind an expensive paywall. I have ways of getting at it, but they're inconsistent and always open to disappearing.

I think she's acutely aware she fits into this stereotype:

edit: Also on a completely unrelated note way too many people's April Fools joke was just 'I'm coming out as conservative' lol....

Why is it always Ohio on this channel? Maybe they're based in that state.

I know the guy in the armour from the other protest travelled from Cleveland where he was attending protests to Wadsworth.

    Patriot Front are so goofy.

This is sort of surreal (I had been wondering what babygirl meant because I kept seeing tumblr users use this word. On and off site.)

Babygirl. "He's so babygirl" is the new submissive and breedable, a phrase used to describe when a man is so primally attractive that you want to provide for him that became mainstream in 2021. Babygirl a term of endearment for when a man is being cute, comfortable in his masculinity, or weak in an evocative way.
I know what they're talking about it's just weird to hear it's 'mainstream.' Or maybe they just meant that phrase submissive and breedable is mainstream (I never liked that phrase tbh lol. I saw people posting that on twitter before.) I wrote some thread back in 2017 asking people if they felt guilty about their preferences lol. Basically because the way my romantic attraction presents itself is often sort of like that, and it seems like something most guys would hate. Also I feel like people are using that term in different ways though

I guess maybe the issue is just being attracted to something kind of impossible and finding barely anyone romantically attractive in general.

Also this is kind of crazy. They're just having this incredibly public high profile twitter spat over something that should be kind of private but isn't in the current political climate because the mum decided to go to the media and the kid who is trans objected to the story being published but the mum went ahead with it anyway:

About a week ago my mom contacted @EmilyYoffe without my knowledge and told her what was supposed to be our story. She expressed her frustration with the transgender clinic at Washington University, many of which are false perceptions that my mom has about the doctors and clinic.
I learned of this article through my mom over the phone when she asked if it was okay that @TheFPpublished the article. I said that I wanted to read it first. When I read the draft I was disgusted with what the reporter and my mom had made my experience out to be.
Upon interviewing Emily Yoffe myself I was told that I had no say in whether or not the article was published. I asked if my consent was required to publish the article and the reporter told me, “that’s not how these things work.”
After she had edited the article and published it (I had not found this out until 20 hours later) I was extremely frustrated. The article makes it out that my mother had no say in the implant of the Supprelin. This is completely false.
After she revoked consent, my father and I, along with the university, attempted to set up a meeting with my mom. She did not attend this meeting, claiming that she was not contacted. Later, she admitted that she was.
Actually babe, they gave me two days' notice and sent an email confirmation that only found last week. They were supposed to call me on speaker and never did. Also, I was not going to that meeting without an attorney. Let's get it all out there.
This is the tone I take with annoying trolls on the internet. It is not how I could imagine any loving parent responding to their sixteen year old child.
“Well, actually”-ing your child on social media, who came forward specifically to undo damage caused by your own publicity seeking interview, is rock bottom parenting.
It's so fucking bizarre. My parents are boomers (in the literal sense,) so this would just never happen.

A reporter contacted me about my experience, after I had contacted an attorney. I gave an interview, she wrote a first draft, which I sent to Alex. There were things they wanted to address, so we all sat in a Zoom call - Emily, myself, and Alex - before it went to press.
I can't help that Alex isn't happy with the final product. They wanted more of a say about their experience, and this wasn't an op-ed article. It doesn't mean it's lies OR that I betrayed my child.

"I really need a new fandom to get into so I can find romance fanfiction to read that's new and hopefully well written. I was enjoying that Thranduil fic but then the pacing of the relationship got really weird/intense fast and i don't care for that. But they have to be fictional characters. I really need to try not to read fanfics about musicians because they're real people, but this is a problem because most hot people are musicians."

"Seriously why aren't there more guys with long hair in Western shows? I mean I guess I could go back to The Lone Gunmen but I'm not as into that character. But there were a bunch of fanfics with him and Spencer Reid and I guess that could work though I'm less inclined to read slash these days and I never did finish Criminal Minds but honestly getting through 9 seasons was pretty intense for a genre I don't even like. I didn't even watch the episode Aubrey Plaza is in. Maybe I could just watch that episode but then I think she's a psychopath and I don't want to ship them just because it's Aubrey Plaza universe why are you doing this?"

*googles characters that look like Geddy Lee.*

The girl that gets raped by the trees in Evil Dead looks EXACTLY like Geddy.
This truly is the darkest timeline.

And the worst part is I used to have a kink about something similar as a teenager involving plants. That's actually not the worst part.

Why has no one clipped just the gnome part into a video for this exact moment lol?

In conclusion the girl in The Evil Dead (which I had not seen before,) doesn't really look exactly like Geddy Lee more like if Winona Ryder and Geddy Lee had a daughter. Actually no. Well she sort of looked like her in one brief moment in the clip but not really in images.

And also why is this a thread on an Iron Maiden forum!? It's like a thread from 2011 on an Iron Maiden forum and none of the images are working now so I can't see most of what's listed.

Also oh my god from the other Google results:

Any X-Files fans here? I always thought the blonde character Richard "Ringo" Langly looks so much like Geddy Lee.
It's more of an archetypal resemblance I guess. If I read a story with a character that has glasses and long hair then I can just pretend in my head that they have hair like this:

I interchangeably pretended Loki looked like IAMX while reading fanfics before when it suited me :')

The story has to be good too or something. I used to daydream a lot entire intense stories in my head then there were years where I didn't/couldn't then I started doing that again sometime in my mid 20s then stopped again and can't do it again really with the same degree of immersion. Kind of sucks.

OK I think the purpose of this thread is for people who look like the band members to post themselves. That's not going to work neither is the mention of some girl you knew in high school

Dean Haglund who played in the X-files looks a little bit like Geddy.
No I already know this. Loooool. Oh my God.

I think I need to go back to when I wasn't finding new people attractive again. This is not better. I mean it sucks either way cause I used to be able to just find some new fictional work and find someone to crush on. And I'm still awake.

I started watching The X-Files but only got to the second episode. I also watched one of the others since it's a conclusion to The Lone Gunmen.

Spoiler: The writers were really not amused that that series got cancelled lol.

It wasn't that great a show but there's something sort of nostalgic (that's not quite the emotion I dunno, it's weird and hard to define,) about the setting and cinematography and other details. I don't know why. Maybe I watched it in some kind of past life in an alternate reality. 🤔 Actually I think it's just similar to the same feeling I get from the Roswell TV show which again isn't a very good show storywise but vibes/setting and the X-Files which I never watched but was aware of.

I'm thinking of a main character from a movie, he was quite a geeky guy and had pretty long blonde hair, think it was straight, maybe front fringe. Always wore glasses. Think he was at high school.

Can't remember when the film came out, maybe 90s/00s? Can't even remember what the film was about, him fighting back against bullies?

Edit: He looks similar to Garth from Wayne's World
If it's not Garth than it's obviously just Langley again oh wait high school never mind then. Lol people are still suggesting him anyway.

Could it be that one guy from the Lone Gunmen from the X-Files? Edit: Richard Langley is the character?s name.
Langley could get it. I hope it's this.
    🤣

Honestly idk if that's who I'm thinking of haha. I've not seen that, but it does look just like him. Either it's not him, or he's the absolute double of who I?m thinking of hahaha
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

IS HE THE ONLY CHARACTER IN EXISTENCE? I literally just started searching for character with long hair and glasses. I know there will be loads in anime I just don't want to watch anime really anymore. [BEEP] it though I'm probably just going to read those fanfics but then if they're good and/or I run out of them because there are only a few by the same author I think and then like 200~ Lone Gunmen fics in general which isn't a ton I'll still need something else. I mean it's either him or Daria. I don't find Daria attractive but I do ship her with Jane or Trent maybe but that wouldn't have worked. Either way. I didn't really care for the Tom storyline. And one of the only four actors on the planet Aubrey Plaza also played Daria in a fake live action trailer lol.

What causes Americans to believe this of their fellow citizens:
    21% are Transgender
    27% are Muslims
    30% are Jews
    30% are Gay
    41% are Black?
I have my own thoughts which I will express once enough people have chimed in.
If 21% of Americans were transgender The Riddler would have had long hair.

It's the future the left want.

They can be a woman too I don't care either way. They have to be bisexual though because it's The Batman universe and every female villain is bisexual for some reason. Apparently it's a law. I headcannon Poison Ivy as a lesbian and Catwoman as straight but the writers don't agree with me so (my brother agreed with this, we had a conversation a long time ago about this, so we're obviously right. I ran a survey 2/2 people agree.) Harley Quinn is obviously bisexual. The Riddler is also a lesbian. Batman and Joker are bisexual. Batman prefers women though and I don't think he'd label himself bisexual. Joker is aromantic. I haven't put any thought into the rest. Clayface might be gay.

Isn't it kind of crazy that faceapp's gender swap filter always adds long hair to women and removes it if you switch women to men. Also I haven't tried it but I bet it does this even if say a woman had short hair. Shouldn't it just swap the hair technically? I'd fix/randomise that too. I tried using it on myself a long time ago but it thought I was male about 50% of the time and I already had long hair so it did change my hair (which felt a bit passive aggressive hahaha,) but it was still long so. Maybe it made it longer in some photos I think I did try some with fairly short hair. Also I think it might have made it shorter when it decided to do female > male.

Dunno if it's improved but AI was always pretty bad with me haha. It doesn't just get confused about my gender (I like that though, Humans are never confused,) but also race. Like when I tried those 'which celebrity do you look like?' things, it would always be a bunch of Asian people and one time Bruce Lee!? That was pretty funny though but I'm white. Probably just because I have dark hair though. I don't think I really look like any famous person. I've been compared to a few people before but never the same person twice. I did stumble on this deviantart painting though once or maybe someone else did and showed me and it looked disturbingly like me at the time, even including unnaturally dyed hair, that was really weird.

Oh my God I like how as a teenager I kind of created this fantasy character in my head based on Poison Ivy but male (tbf some versions were intersex as well,) and now doing the opposite with The Riddler. No Batman villain is safe (some are safe.) This would be a problem for me:

No scandal. No drugs. No addiction. No political posturing. No maudlin love songs. No reliance on looks. No egos.
    My favorite band since 1984.
Yes this is partly what I was getting at all the way back when I wrote this post:

    Quote Nyctophilia View Post
I have this impression of prog rock fans being pretentious/snobs about it (from comments I read online,) and I grew up listening to pop punk and nu metal, grunge, and stuff like that and had some interest in punk too (at least until my mid teens then started listening to The Cure and Patrick Wolf more.) So that prob feeds into it too (because of the historical relationship between those genres, this wasn't discourse when I was a teenager prog and punk for that matter were 'dead,' just seems probably tangentially related.) There are also generational/daddy issue elements to it all. This effects my enjoyment somewhat which is dumb but there it is. I guess I like Steven Wilson's work because he admits to listening to everything, mostly made music in the 90s and later, and has explored a lot musically. Also very talented. Somehow better live than in studio recordings (seen him live 4 times.) Yes. No not that yes. Oh my god imagine having to link just one video. Not linking Buying New Soul again it's actually my favourite track though.
Some people have 'my dad but maybe even more annoying in some ways' energy. So you see their comments around and it's a bit irritating. I was focussing more on the music in the above post because that happens too, but this is still pretty annoying.

Also what's wrong with love songs? Just it's so puritanical. That might be a better word to describe them.

They don't 'rely on looks' but very few musicians can. Most have to have at least some musical ability to appeal to people, whether you enjoy their music or not. It's not something everyone can do. That being said it's all very ironic considering my posts.... I think there's a lot of musicians people think don't have visual appeal too but do at least to a minority. Same with Steven Wilson.

Yeah I like the music, a lot, talented. But also was pretty attracted for like a year or so (died down now but he's still attractive.)

They don't care about appearance but... Why do so many prog musicians have long hair? Don't make me use evo-psych on you.

"No one could possibly find these people attractive. They have a tiny number of female fans for this reason. 0 sex appeal whatsoever. Just talent. I can forget I'm an animal."

I've got bad news for you son. I mean it's funny really because depending on your viewpoint that could be classed as an insult lol.

Speaking of the animal thing she got negative comments for this as I mentioned before:

"You are the victim. The victim of my love." Is such a great line though. It's how I feel often lol. Well not even love just with attraction haha. I don't think it was a huge musical detour from her other work either. Just more sexual. (I seem to remember some criticism along those lines too but might be misremembering.)

I think what's happening is the music is seen as a spiritual thing so it should be removed from the material. But I don't think that's essential (for music or spirituality.) It's hard to not internalise that but it's a part of the Human experience for most people.

And it goes on and on:

I can understand why the music community has such a little class… These guys had all of it!
The thing I like most about these guys (from a distance - I obviously don't know them personally) is that you would never know that this is 2/3'rds of a band that sold over 40 million albums (so far).
They seem like normal, humble Canadian guys.
They dress like normal guys, they look like normal guys and they talk like normal (but intelligent), humble guys.
Anyone who says that it is impossible for fame not to go to your head - this band proved that is not true.
    ???

Women who are into pop music do this too though with their favourite female musicians they have to create some weird competition between people and do some weird tribal thing, sometimes musicians do this too but it's mostly fans who do, and the thing is. Obviously not everyone feels this way but in my opinion. THIS IS THE ANTITHESIS OF THE POINT OF MUSIC.

Anyway I know I introduced someone to Happy Returns from Hand. Cannot. Erase by Steven Wilson and then they started listening to that. It's not my favourite Steven Wilson album although I identify with the concept. But there are some good songs on that album and I also really like Happy Returns. So that made me feel pretty good.

Synthwave a genre based on nostalgia already kind of feels slightly nostalgic. For the mid 2010s. Very amusing.

Can't believe I've been psyopped into watching the new Barbie film because of the meme about Ryan Gosling's Ken being a trainwreck. But there's a good chance I'll never get around to watching the film because of my executive function anyway lol as I don't plan to watch it in the cinema.

And it's funny because when I played with barbies Ken was always very uninteresting to me. He had no hair. It was plastic. My origin story.

If I medically transitioned and managed to look reasonably masculine I'd do 'when I was a little girl' all the time because it's so entertaining. The juxtaposition. Doesn't really have the same impact when you look like me though lol.

"Well if they dislike this, I must watch it!"

I kind of need this film to be like some kind of weird surreal dark artsy detournement. Bonus points for including this song somewhere:

There's an academic with a drug problem just slowly losing the plot, and Barbie realises that she has infinite clones being controlled by female children like Being John Malkovich and she has an existential crisis. No wait she has infinite lives and the memories of her other lives start seeping through. And she has an existential crisis. Maybe the academic is a Barbie too.

And it's just like Fight Club somehow.

But at the end of the day kids are going to want to watch this because they play with the dolls and then I come back down to Earth.

edit: the whole soundtrack should just be Crywank's last album:

^such a good track has echoes of Coil.

I'm investigating more. This time on reddit this is from a BL subreddit:

I hate when people call men Babygirl. It's kind of weird.
^ lots of people agreeing with this.

    frankly it's a gender-neutral term. like girlboss.

there is nothing in the word's meaning that is gendered. like how guy or dude is technically a gendered term but not so in practice.
Babygirl is NOT a gender neutral term, I'm sorry but it isn't. It's so weird that people think it is and I think it's really weird how it's suddenly "gender neutral" even though that's not how it's typically been used.

Also girlboss is not gender neutral. Dude isn't really gender neutral either but is more acceptable but I think it's kind of shitty to refer to men as girls.
OP this is one those conversations you?ll find more enjoyable on other platforms.

I was actually curious to see how a bl subreddit would react when they found out their manly men (don't nitpick) were being called babygirl lol. Babygirl has been in use in fandoms now beyond bl dramas so it was about time it spilled over from tumblr and Twitter.

Good to know that the reaction is the same as when a guy calls another guy wife in bl. Never change bl subredditors😂😂

Also OP, my current babygirls are Gem🥺and Phuwin🥺and their characters.
Doesn't seem that mainstream since this is a BL subreddit and that's already on the outskirts of culture.

    Honestly you are right.

I guess I'm used to positivity in my BL fandom where no one really cares for terms like babygirl and wife (bl use) or wife (tumblr use).

I'm such an in-between age here. The older fans don't grasp wife(BL use) they way it's used in LITA (in Rain choosing to call himself wife) and the younger ones are disgusted by the word queer.
How old is this person lol? Most people I see complain about the word [BEEP] are older than me (32) [BEEP] wasn't an insult when we were growing up people just used gay/lesbian as insults but the further back in time you go the more it was used as an insult. I dunno maybe teenagers on tiktok find [BEEP] bad I'm not on that site.

Some people would call male characters waifu for a few different reasons, so I don't think that's exactly new.

Our Flag Means Death subreddit asking about people calling one of the character's Ed babygirl:

It's partially based off a meme, can't remember the origin atm, two people are sat in a car and one says to the other "why does [x] call you babygirl". It's always drawn to look uncomfortable and the line is meant to be somewhat accusatory for obvious reasons. There was a version of that with Izzy at the wheel asking the question and Ed in the passenger seat and people ran with it ig!

It's also just, like, part of [BEEP] culture imo to 'feminise' any and every man you're into lmao
"It's also just, like, part of [BEEP] culture imo to 'feminise' any and every man you're into lmao"

what are you basing the opinion on, if i may ask? sounds to me like you're talking about gay cis men, which is already a wild generalization, and even wilder when applied to the entirety of [BEEP] culture. or do you mean explicitly within media representation?
No it sounds least like gay cis men lol. Gay cis men are mostly attracted to really masculine guys and find femininity a turn off. This response is hilariously ironic.

I mostly mean within media representation, especially with very masculine men. It's a big pattern in media consumption that I've seen at least over the past decade using tumblr. I'm not saying this from a homophobic POV, I'm a [BEEP] trans man myself lol. I'm just saying a lot of young [BEEP] people and folks on tumblr do it.
Apparently people are using the term more for 'very masculine men.' I hadn't noticed that cause well obviously my introduction to the term was while browsing the Geddy Lee tag on tumblr which seemed to be mostly made up of people who id as lesbians and people with they/them pronouns in their bio.

It's good that younger people are into more diverse body types etc though.

    Me in 2017 lol:

Do you ever feel bad/guilty about your preferences?

Anyway I think this a lot because I have very specific preferences that most guys can't meet (or wouldn't want to.) I'm attracted to a lot of feminine traits in guys, and it's not that I don't find any masculine traits attractive because I do (otherwise I'd just be attracted to women, and I find guys that are my type much more attractive) and I also have been attracted to guys who are less feminine but the traits I find myself desiring the most are one's guys usually dislike in themselves and it would probably lower their self esteem to hear about the stuff I find attractive. And it is a bit unreasonable especially in regards to physical stuff sometimes.

    [...]

He's there looking so small and fragile, and shivering a little.
And I found that line very attractive and I think that's partly why I like slim guys with slim legs as well, because they look kind of smaller. And I thought about it, and felt like that's a pretty messed up thing to find attractive, not that I don't find emotional strength attractive as well, but I guess I like the idea of being protective sometimes. Even if it's unrealistic.

And that's just one example I think this often like I like guys who wear makeup, and mix and match female/male clothing, who have long hair and various feminine interests, I like calling guys pretty etc (most would obviously hate that, so I don't ever say that to someone and wouldn't unless I knew they were OK with that kind of compliment.) Sometimes even when a guy is slightly more masculine in terms of personality, as long as they're still kind of introverted/shy, I still daydream about them in this same kind of weird dynamic at least 50% of the time.. Maybe more these days.. And guys don't even want to know about some of my sexual fantasies..... I know most guys would hate those lol. Yeah :/
I don't get how completely OK these people seem lol. I'm forced to conclude this is a way more mild frivolous thing for most of them that they haven't thought much about and are doing ironically/humorously, because if anything the backlash against feminisation has only increased over the past 10 years.

Lol the absolute breadcrumbs I feel they are working with here:

But also, there?s some gender stuff happening with Ed! It?s very subtle, and I only saw it after trans and non-binary fans picked up on it. After telling his story about the Kraken, Ed says the line ?be careful what you ask your god for, SHE might just answer.? And when you put that in the context of Ed being the Kraken, and being the god he?s referring to there, it makes the ?she? pronoun kind of an interesting choice. Plus how he wants to be called Edward instead of Blackbeard. Plus the beard being like, a symbol of masculinity that gets shaved off and then he paints one back on when he becomes the Kraken. There?s just? there is stuff there. It?s a little red string conspiracy board, but it?s in there. I can send folks links that explain it better if they want to read more.
I get the desperation though. I mean I don't know this character because I haven't tried watching the show and the only character I know from it is the non-binary one (Jim) who seemed cool that I saw gifs of on twitter. I didn't see this gif but yeah:

Apparently the writer liked this tweet lol:

Yep I scrolled back through his likes and he definitely liked it lol (luckily apart from all the Halloween month cosplay pics he didn't have that many,)

    Also liked this thread:

It sucks to know that this is probably going to go on forever though. I don't know. I can loosely embrace being Satan incarnate trying to feminise all men sometimes.

This year I've had about five music journalists reach out wanting to cover Crywank only to reach out shortly afterwards to apologise because their editor told them no 👻
Lol and (speaking of a fictional Crywank Barbie movie soundtrack,) I hadn't been following Crywank's twitter for ages but someone posted this:

Tumblr posts that were amusing me because they're so random:

    This was an anonymous ask:

dick makes people mentally ill. dick havers, dick wannabes and dick lovers are all insane. it's like toxoplasmosis, you have compulsive need to defend and push and worship dicks all the time and spead your dick mania to everywhere you go.
this seems rational and grounded in empirical evidence
You can never be normal about these men you always gotta say [BEEP] like I wanna hold him in my mouth like hes a baby alligator
This post has no connection to the above post which makes it funnier:

the wife who dies at the beginning of the movie or something
last night I had a dream that there was a tumblr update and the only thing it changed was that for two minutes straight you could sprinkle shredded cheese on other blogs and their posts, and everyone's dashboard was just pandemonium as everyone cheesed each other. two minutes of abominable amounts of shredded cheese raining from the dash. tumblr at its finest. get cheesed
    This looks very cool:

It turns out when cooking pasta is helps to turn the hob on instead of just filling the pan with boiling water and then forgetting to do that while washing up a bunch of stuff and then wondering why it's taking so long. In a way I'm surprised this is the first time this has happened.

^ that wasn't a post that was just me forgetting to turn the hob on while I was cooking. I really wonder if I have ADHD tbh (not just because of this lol.) I mean I've been wondering this most of my life (I also have a bunch of autism symptoms though.) It's also very genetic and my brother almost certainly has undiagnosed ADHD. He's really like a textbook case and on several occasions recently he's just come to talk to me while cooking something because he gets bored then forgets he's cooking while talking to me and starts burning food. He has diagnosed dyslexia though I think that has some impact on executive function but haven't really looked into it.

    edit:

so i asked a friend what was up and she replied with this and i feel like i’m in an episode of the twilight zone
