Come on!!
Come on!!
Are we talking books that were made into movies? Or just general, do I like to read books over watching movies?
If the former, I usually prefer the books. If the latter, that's a hard call. I might go with movies, more accessible and there's a wide variety to watch and enjoy, unlike books where I usually am only a fan of a specific genre, thus making it hard for me to find quality books.
BTW - This wasn't the type of debates I was talking about.
Movies!
Boooooooooooooooooooooooks
I go for movies as you can see whats happening rather than words on a page also books take days to read and most films are under 2 hours.
The book versions always better cause they can only fit so much into the movie. Plus they add stuff the movies that isn't in the book... hate that >.>
I try to read the books first before going to see a movie. Take for instance Hunger Games. The movie left a ton of stuff out that was pertinent to the story line.
The Hokey Pokey IS what it's all about
I don't have the attention span to sit through movies most of the time, so I very rarely watch them. I like reading because I can do it at my own pace, put the book down and pick it back up as I need to, go back and reread a passage if I notice my mind has been wandering, etc. I don't like committing myself to watching a movie, because I'm rarely confident that I'm going to stay attentive all the way through.

If this is about Monroe's first interpretation above, then I'd say I usually prefer the book over the movie. There are some exceptions, such as The Godfather & I liked Keira Knightley's Pride & Prejudice as much as Jane Austen's book (maybe because of Keira Knightley). But usually the movies add or subtract elements not in the book and in the end just don't work for me.
I like books better as well. The movies always change too many things around for my liking. And a book is a good distraction as well, they can take a good while to read
"I am the Wanderer
I've seen many a shore
But the road I long the most to go
Is closed for evermore"
I read this as boobs vs. movies *sigh* don't ask... LOL
Anywho, I prefer the books over films in general. Don't get me wrong... I like watching movies, but for some reason... I hardly have the attention for it now. I can't really focus on it much and I end up feeling like I'd rather do something else like browse the web, go shopping etc.
As for books, it's easy to focus on reading them (assuming we're talking about leisure reading here). It's strange... it seems to be the total opposite with a lot of people these days (those who go "ew who reads???? reading is boring!" lol), but ya... I just like literature overall, so I guess this is part of why I'm able to read better than watch a movie.
If I had to choose just one, I'd pick books. But I like both.
