So someone I know is in hospital with menigitus and I'm freaking out that I have it..

So yeah. That. The daughter of a neighbour of mine was taken into hospital this morning and they think it's menigitus (although they're not sure, she doesn't have the rash) and is currently in ICU. So far there's been little change, her sisters been in to see her, and she's currently staying with us overnight (Both her parents are with her right now, they're a bit shocked at how quick it all happened (we all are, really), but I guess that's meningitis. Happens quickly, gotta catch it quickly. Which they did.)

However, despite all this, I'm also freaking out about that I have it now, and have caught it through indirect contact somehow through the sister, even though that makes no sense, due to the fact that:

1-I have not seen the person who has menigitus in a few weeks, what with me flying up and down between Scotland and home and back, and her working and all.

2-I have a cold, which was apparently the first symptoms she had. However, I've been sneezing for a long time, it's most likely allergies, and I was a complete [BEEP] and lost the anti-histamine spray I have which made it worse. I definatly managed to pis off the person sitting next to me on the plane home last night by sneezing every five minutes. Somehow, I think this is a cold. This was before she was even in hospital, and I haven't seen her in a long time.

3-I stupidly did a google search on the symptoms of it, brought up the list, and panicked. Even though they're pretty mild, and I really did not have neck pain (one of the symptoms) until I read that on the symptom list. And even then, it's saying that the neck pain is so bad that the person may be reluctant to/struggle to bend they're head. Probably the whole placebo thing.

4-I do not have a fever, if anything, I'm absolutely freezing, I am not vomitting, I don't really feel sick, and that rash that I'm panicking about has been there for a while, and I'm pretty sure that's some sort of allergy thing which runs in the family. I've had this before, a lot of people on my dads side of the family have it, and basically? We get itchy and have skin covered in spots as a reaction to some types of washing powder (particularly perfumed ones.) I have my suspects that it's not. And I had this rash way before I got this cold.

In case you didn't notice, this is just me trying to be logical about this and not freak out and go into full anxiety mode.
