Hmmm...I'm not too sure what to do..

    Hey y'all....

I have a lil problem..maybe this isn't the best place to ask, but eh.

So yeah now that I came out with my guitar stuff n' what not and this guy is like my best friend suddenly and he wants me to teach him my pickin' style.

Prob is I won't teach just anybody this. It's what makes me unique as guitar player.
I've been used so much by people that it's just not that easy.

But I've no idea what to tell this guy, le how to tell him I don't wanna teach it. I wanna be a nice as possible without soundng like a dick.

I can proly figure it out but im really drunk atm, so.....Any Ideas???

Does he know how to play guitar in general? Or whats to learn your style?

I've had people ask me for the tabs and exactly how I play a song (e.g asking me to show them the cords as I play) there is a defined reason it's blurred and not cammed closed up. You can tell him the "style" name of the type you play.. (carter if I'm correct..?) But yeah, someone asking for that information or asking how to mimic your personal style- most people don't even go that far as asking, they sneak around trying to zoom on video's and will ask you for tabs/ cards of it. ,__. But it's rude and rather front forward..

I would think a personal style is almost impossible to teach because it's....personal. I don't see anything wrong with someone emulating your style but maybe you might say it's really not teachable. It's more something each player develops after they've learned the basics? Best of luck. I'm sure you'll handle it well.

He can play he just wants to learn how I perfected it. Normally I don't care, like I'd be happy to pass this almost lost art on, but my problem here is I don't wanna do such for just anyone cuz it's easy for ppl to just use you in that case. I worked REALLY hard to perfect this style authentically and I'd love to pass it on to people that would tryly appreciate it but not to just some guy I barely even know. How he suddenly fixed on it is what bothered me.
I very much doubt there any bad intention, in fact I say ppl SHOULD teach others all kinda stuff so that we can all benefit, but again my point is I've been used by ppl so much these days that stuff like this just gets me thinking, y'know?
