    URGENT Need help!!

My ex-boyfriend sent me this... I'm in a total panic freaking out right now. I'm scared to death that by the time I got it, it was already too late
I know he said not to tell anyone but I have to tell someone, I'm not going to let him kill himself... What do I do?! Please help!!

This is all my fault! I shouldn't have ignored him the other day but I was with my current boyfriend. I am such an asshole

Have you heard from him? Alert his mother or whoever he might be physically close to, even the police

I'm not giving any advice because this is way too important an issue for me to give bad advice, but it isn't your fault. You don't control other people's misery, you couldn't if you tried. I hope this was a cry for help, I see he mentioned that he didn't want anyone to know or want to be stopped; sometimes that means the opposite and maybe he really did want it to come out so he could be stopped.

I called his mother and it sounds like it really was a cry for help. He's alright now, thank God. His mom caught him before he was able to do anything. She didn't mention to him that I had said anything, she just told him she "had a feeling" that something was up. I talked to him a little while ago and he says he's feeling better and he apologized for scaring me like that. I made him promise not to hurt himself and that if he really felt that he was going to commit suicide that he needed to tell someone immediately. In return, I told him I would not ignore his texts anymore and that it was selfish of me to do so. He agreed that he will go for help next time.
I hope I did the right thing here.

Tell him if you don't hear back from him in x time you are going to alert his family.

Thank God he didn't actually do it. It still definitely was NOT your fault though. He really does need to get some type of help, more than just promising to tell someone the next time he's feeling that bad.

Lasair is exactly right. My personal preference is for the police because they can do the most help and sometimes get there the quickest. If you know his address I would call 911 and tell them. They will send police and an ambulance so if he is hurt they can help him right away and if he didn't go through with it the police may take him to the hospital for evaluation and help.

You probably know as well as I do that even doctors and therapists, who have to follow strict confidentiality agreements, will tell authorities if a suicide threat has been made. No one should keep a secret like that so don't feel guilty over it. If someone threatens themselves, another person, or discloses that there is a child being abused (or an animal IMO), they just don't have the right to expect those things to remain a secret. Those things are just too serious.

You out can also call the suicide hotline. They help the loved ones of suicidal people too.

    I hope everything is ok.
Edit: While I was writing this NOVEL lol I'm glad you talked to his mom and it turned out ok. You did good!

    I'm alright. Thank you.
Just a little shaken up after all this but I'm glad he's OK. This was a bit of a wakeup call for me too, now I know how much people worry when I feel like killing myself. It was good, in a way, to have that put into perspective for me (I mean, it was in no way good that he felt this way but it was good for me to be on the other end of it for once so I can see what I sound like, if that makes sense). I really care about Dominic and he's a good friend and I'm more than happy to hear he's alright.

I like that you can see that - events like this hard but learn from it, build from it and move forward. Sending hugs xxx

What's up with everyone wanting to kill themself??? I'm hearing this so often from so many ppl round here. Why someone would want to throw away their very existence for ANY reason is beyond me. T_T
